Had the misfortune to visit Mr Seafood whilst visiting Hervey Bay - terrible food and even worse customers service. The portions were TINY. My 6yo daughter is not a big eater but even she was dismayed to see so few chips in her portion. She counted them - 11! I didn't believe her at first until I checked. When I raised this with the couple begind the counter they became quite aggressive and said: "Well that's the size of the kids' portions!" My portion was also small with soggy crumb on the fish. Very disappointing.
We have visited this seafood place off and on over the past few years - our last visit was really disgusting and even tho we explained what our dissatisfaction was, nothing was done about it which was really upsetting and off putting.we decided last night to give them another chance to prove themselves, reasoning that they may have had bad staff or less than reputable suppliers ( giving them big benefit of the doubt) and we were so pleasantly surprised. I am thinking that they've had change of ownership the staff are new, the shop looks lovely and clean, the fish and chips were well cooked and we didn't feel yuk in the tummy afterward - all the fish and chips were edible (not like last time )it was a really pleasant experience and we will be going back there again
I ordered $5 worth of chips (which I have ordered from the previous owners many times before) and the portion was TINY - ive added a photo.. its a total joke! I asked many people how many dollars worth of chips I got and they all said $2. I tried to ring them repeatedly to discuss and they don't answer their phone. disappointed with the new owners =[
We have been living in the bay for the past 10 years and have tried most of the restaurants along the Esplanade. Some have been good, while others not so much. We often find ourselves in the mood for fish and chips, and have tried Maddigans a few times. However, we were disappointed when we received a large amount of chips that seemed to have been cooked twice or reheated. We ended up feeding them to the Ibis birds. Despite our complaint, the staff did not seem very interested in addressing our concerns. As a result, we have switched to a seafood restaurant and have been going there regularly. It's important for restaurants to prioritize customer satisfaction if they want repeat business. Some customers may be tourists, but others will take their place if they are not satisfied.
We decided to stop at Mr. Seafood for some fish and chips to add to our butter rolls. We were pleased to find that the fish was delicious and not greasy at all. We paid $10 for a piece of sweet lips, $2 for chips, and $5 for 6 Calamari. While there weren't a lot of chips, the meal was still enough for two people to share when combined with the $2 Woolworths bread rolls. I prioritize quality over quantity and would definitely return to Mr. Seafood because the fish is fresh, hot, and not greasy. The chips are crispy and not overwhelming, and the Calamari was enjoyable. Overall, it was a good lunch for two people for under $20.
