We have been living in the bay for the past 10 years and have tried most of the restaurants along the Esplanade. Some have been good, while others not so much. We often find ourselves in the mood for fish and chips, and have tried Maddigans a few times. However, we were disappointed when we received a large amount of chips that seemed to have been cooked twice or reheated. We ended up feeding them to the Ibis birds. Despite our complaint, the staff did not seem very interested in addressing our concerns. As a result, we have switched to a seafood restaurant and have been going there regularly. It's important for restaurants to prioritize customer satisfaction if they want repeat business. Some customers may be tourists, but others will take their place if they are not satisfied.
We decided to stop at Mr. Seafood for some fish and chips to add to our butter rolls. We were pleased to find that the fish was delicious and not greasy at all. We paid $10 for a piece of sweet lips, $2 for chips, and $5 for 6 Calamari. While there weren't a lot of chips, the meal was still enough for two people to share when combined with the $2 Woolworths bread rolls. I prioritize quality over quantity and would definitely return to Mr. Seafood because the fish is fresh, hot, and not greasy. The chips are crispy and not overwhelming, and the Calamari was enjoyable. Overall, it was a good lunch for two people for under $20.
Have been in Hervey Bay (Scarness) for a week. Just finished our second meal from this place. The fish (local snapper) was beautifully fresh, moist and tasty. The chips we had last time were golden and crisp, but the star tonight was the homemade scallops...(potato cakes where we come from). Never had better. The service was efficient, quick and friendly. Highly recommended.
We enjoyed a chat while waiting for our delicious Coral Trout and Chips with chicken salt to be cooked. Generous pieces of fish and ample chips too.We look forward to more great meals there.
