We went for lunch and the meal met all our expectations. Fried fish and grilled octopus....delicious ! Excellent price/quality
We stayed in the bar and enjoyed several shared tapas, the jamon of oak fed free range black pigs just melted in our mouths all washed down with ice cold beer.
Excellent food and great service. Unlike what others have experience, we found both the place and the staff very pleasant (despite lack of language). It might be a good idea to know a little about basque dishes before heading there. Recommendation are Chuletón (large meat chops/beef) and Pulpo a la brasa (octopus).
The restaurant looks really inviting from the outside and after the reviews on here we were quite excited about having a meal there; however, when we entered and greeted the waitress, we didn't get so much as an acknowledgment and were unsure as to whether or not she had seen us. She had and when we told her there were three of us, she sat us in the conservatory area, plonked two menus in front of us (still without any talking or a smile). Although the food looked very good, having tried several different restaurants in Spain and France, value for money seemed quite poor. After several minutes of inattentiveness, we walked out, only to hear the surly waitress mutter something under her breath.
After a long closure due to the covid but also to the deceas of the founder, it is the reopening and it is the son who is at the manettes, we were there yesterday evening Friday, we had our habits in this typical place. Small disappointment, a sangria and a Euro pressure!puis tapas euros (correct)and to finish the milk ponpon curled with b rebis (the best of the euros. If the quality is always at the rendezvous, the price has literally exploded and I want to put this on account of the tourist season that tends to swell the rates, hope that well soon in September we will find the Montxo that we love to far more friendly, good hearer salute!!!
