Love the variety of sauces they offer with their delicious chips. I think the chips are homemade. The main dish was also delicious. I'm not a big fan of Mexican food, but I like an authentic Mexican food! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Huaraches Moroleon:
In Urbana! Place was nicely lit and almost full, so I thought I’d grab some food. Went inside and it was the worst customer service experience in a while! They had some problem with me talking Spanish, I used to live in a Hispanic neighborhood and my conversational Spanish is fine. At first they didn’t have what I wanted, a burrito. Then they had 2 types??? Asked for beans, lettuce, tomato, and rice on the side. None... View all feedback.
In a city with no shortage of excellent Mexican restaurants, Huaraches Moroleon manages to stand out. There are so many places that provide generic, bland Mexican food (e.g., El Toro, Dos Reales, Hacienda Agave) that it's refreshing to find a place that really delivers. Highlights for me: the spicy fajitas come with jalapenos and some genuinely hot chilis, the salsas (complimentary, upon request) are outstanding, and the service is always friendly and efficient. My wife is partial to the tripas tacos, and if you want other meats less common to the standard American diet, they have them here. You can spend a lot more and get a lot less elsewhere (again, El Toro). Plus, it has a cool hole-in-the-wall feeling as a neighborhood restaurant, well off the beaten path, with a small dining room. It takes a little effort to drive there (unless you're in East Urbana), but it's always worth the effort. Highly recommended.
Since I've only been there once today, on the way home from voting) I'll only go with 4 stars. This place was recommended by a co-worker. The fact that a crew of hispanics from the company that recently roofed our house they had work jackets on) were here indicate that we are getting the right stuff. The house-made chips were warm with 4 tasty salsas. One looked like salad dressing but had a smoky heat. The chipotle sauce was good but pretty hot I like it hot). I went for Huarache. It came on a plate sized handmade tortilla, a tad on the thick size which I don't mind since I make my own tortillas sometimes they are a bit thick. My spousal unit had a burrito enchalada which is just a Flintstone sized burrito dressed with a red sauce. We also got a side of Mexican rice which was good. The food is good a good value. We stopped in the other night and the food was amazing. We got the three enchiladas and some tacos. I loved getting to try different sauces in one go. I don't think I could choose a favorite. The patio was lovely. We got lucky, the weather was perfect. I also had a spicy margarita and it was delicious. Our server was great as well. He got us taken care of quickly.
Good food! Chips were absolutely perfect. Everything we ordered was done quickly and was correct. Nice find while traveling, thanks to our Yelp app!!
Good authentic eats on a nice patio. Everyone was friendly enough .... Complimentary chips and salsa. I believe homemade. The patio was nice but the indoors felt dark and dirty. No. It was dark and dirty ; .... Don't let that stop you. The food was fresh.
