What Robert Barnacle dislikes about Nixta:
The food presentation was pleasant, but I was disappointed with the small size of the $12 margarita. There were no specials available. The crab empanada was bland and unappealing. The tamales and mushroom dish were unappetizing. The pork tacos tasted stale, like they were cooked in old oil. The atmosphere was average. This restaurant is a fantastic spot for Mexican small plates or cocktails. While it may be on the more expensive side, it is definitely worth it. I ordered a crab empanada and yucca fries, both of which were delicious.

This restaurant, which has received high ratings, lived up to its reputation. The ambience was trendy and relaxed. The servers were well-informed and attentive, and the service was quick. The drinks selection was impressive, especially the margaritas which were the best in town. They also had a nice variety of Sotol. We tried the small plates, including tacos, Tamalpais, and enchiladas, all of which were amazing. The vegetarian enchiladas were particularly outstanding. For dessert, we had the Charros, which was a delicious treat. Overall, it was a great dining experience. I also appreciated the fact.
We had such a great first visit to Nixta yesterday evening. After an evening stroll around the Botanical Gardens, we decided to give Nixta a try. The vibe is colorful, cozy, and romantic and reminded us of our honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas. We were warmlygreeted and though we didn't have reservations, we were lucky to grab seats at the bar. Our server/bartender Zachary was great. The food is next level Mexican cuisine. We enjoyed the Smoked pork enchiladas, Cochinita pibil, and Yucca fries; all wereabsolutely delicious and beautifully presented. We look forward to a return visit!
Our group of five found Nixta on a quick overnight stay in The Grove. We found the ambiance to be charming and the service to be incredibly friendly! That being said, the price point for the menu items was anything but “casual”. Our server clarified forus that the small plates were “shareable” and that the large plates could be split amongst the table, this was not the case.We found that the small and large plates were not enough for even one person, but more so that each dish was a very overpricedtapas situation. Although the small amount of food we ordered was quite delicious, we definitely felt “nixted” from aportion standpoint.
