Came here with a co worker for lunch. I ordered the stuffed clams appetizer as my lunch and he got a burger. My stuff clams was very flavorful and creamy. It hit the right spot. He enjoyed his burger as well. Staff is very friendly and pleasant. The decor was very classy and traditional. What Nicole S doesn't like about Donovans Restaurant:
Well this was such a blah meal all around. I came here for dinner last night for the first time and was extremely unsatisfied with my meal. I got the bacon and blue burger with turkey meat since I don't eat red meat. First off, there was literally half a piece of bacon on this. Like, seriously, half of a strip. If that. Second, there was zero taste. The burger wasn't seasoned. The cheese had no flavor, and as I said,... View all feedback.
My friend and I were looking to do outdoor dining on a mild December day and it was surprisingly harder than expected. The one place we chose had a children's party taking up the entire outdoor section. The other spots on Bell had enclosed outdoor spaces, which is basically like indoors. We finally spotted Donovan's, with a spacious open outdoor area with no one in it. We walked inside the restaurant and saw there were plenty of diners indoors (as was the case with most of the restaurants on Bell) but the host was happy to seat us outside with no issue. We got menus and waters right away, and our waitress was very attentive despite us being the only ones out there. We both got burgers and I'd say they were average. My friend ordered hers medium but it came out rarer than she'd like. Someone who seemed like a manager came to check on us, so she sent it back to cook more, and it came back well done. But we agreed that there's always a risk sending back a burger after it's already cooked. We got sweet potato fries to split, those were delicious. Perfect consistency, sweet and saltiness, and tangy sauce. I was also pleased to see the prices were reasonable, considering the place seemed more upscale than the others. So overall a good experience, with Donovan's saving our almost failed lunch plans.
I've been meaning to try this place for years but I'm always persuaded to go somewhere else. Fortunately this time all the other places my brunch buddy (my son) wanted to go were closed. So I got my way, finally. The place is beautiful inside. Everything about it feels like home. The fireplaces make it warm and inviting. It's very easy to get comfortable and stay a while. It was an early Sunday afternoon and we came for bottomless brunch. We were greeted by a smiling hostess and seated right away. The menu has all the typical brunch items and for $20 more you get the bottomless option. I ordered the crab cake Benedict which comes with home fries and my son ordered the brioche French toast with fried eggs and bacon. We also ordered a side of French fries and fried calamari. We both really enjoyed our food. Everything was fresh and flavorful, the crab cakes were full of crab and delicious, the fries were cooked just right and the calamari was perfectly seasoned and crunchy. As a regular bruncher I really appreciated they served our mimosa and Bellini in a full wine glass. This keeps the server from running back and forth so often when served in a smaller glass. Our server was a calm, cool and very busy gentleman named Vincent that was extremely efficient. As we enjoyed our meals he waited on most of the tables inside, had tables outside and was the only person making drinks at the bar and most tables had drinks. He never once seemed flustered or overwhelmed. I'm sorry I waited so long to enjoy this great place. It will be a regular spot going forward.
Went her for a late lunch yesterday, asked the host if they serve fish and chips, he said yes. I was seated outside which was nice it was a nice day. I was sipping on a Tito Vodka martini while waiting for my food. I was very hungry, the food came out and the fish looked like it was 3 large deep-fried nuggets, over sweet potato fries. I have to say this was the worst Fish and chips I have had from any Irish pub/restaurant. The fish tasted frozen as if they deepfried the fish while it was still frozen. The so called breading came right off the fish once I touched it with the fork. It was horrible. A filet of fish from Mc Donald's is way better than their so called fish and chips. Although the sweet potato fries were good. I mentioned to the host, how bad I thought the dish was. As to let the owner know where ever they get that product from they should reconsider. You would think from an established Irish Bar/Restaurant they would pride themselves on a good fish and chips. The host was willing to supplement the dish but I was on a time restriction so that didn't work. So they deducted the price of the fish and charged me for the martini and a side of sweet potato fries
Sometimes stopping for a couple hour feeds your soul as much as the food does.
I would like to say I was very very pleased with my full experience at Donovan's! The service all around was pleasant. They have valet parking which is amazing considering it is a pain in the neck to park on Bell Blvd. The valet parking employee was super friendly. We got seated immediately which was nice. The room is very big so you don't feel crowded like other restaurants. The decor and wall paper seems very vintage. The waitresses were so helpful and sweet. They give you as a plate of Italian bread and Irish soda bread. The soda bread was BOMB! I loved it. My boyfriend and I ordered the Mudslides, considering I haven't had one in a long long time. A Mudslide is basically Bailey, Kahlua, Vodka with Ice cream. It was absolutely tasty! Very thick and filling. They have a wide selection on their menu. My boyfriend ordered the Saloon Burger which has fried onions and horseradish on it. He really enjoyed it. It was so big. It also came with a pickle and some steak fries. I was going to order the fish tacos but I am not a fan of Tilapia fish. Which I am glad the waitress let me know. So I ordered the fish and chips. The fried fish was very very big. It came with potatoes and a side of coleslaw. It was so much I couldn't even eat it all. Very tasty. Will be returning for Brunch and Drinks!
