The Driftwood Spars - United Kingdom

This is a truly truly wonderful place. I regret that I do not have enough positive adjectives to do this place justice! I had a few of the beers there present (Trouble+Strife, Rebel 80/ and Montol for anyone interested enough! . All were top notch. If there is something that I love almost as much as beer (apart from badger baiting it is cheese. So I chose to challenge them by ordering their cheese plate, but dammit if that wasn't delicious too. Anyone visiting the area should come to this pub. I haven't even got into how good it looks! I made a note during my visit that I saw the ghost of Rick Stein's dog, Chalky. I must confess that I have no idea what I was on about! I hadn't had that much to drink! Logical explanation must exist.

I loved the chilled out vibe of the Spars. Just up from the cove, it is a traditional pub but post surf place to hangout. They have a reputation for their own microbrewery, but also stock local labels such as Korev lager and Rattler cider. there is also a decent wine list and a medium sized glass of wine is around £4 £5 depending on what you get. It is popular the sunday lunch sold out when we were there as it is available between 12 2.30pm but fear not, the excellent Lewsey Lou's is positioned opposite and staff there will call out your receipt number so you can squeeze in a quick pint between ordering and getting your food. I had lunch there one day mid week. Standard pub food but a good value portion and staff are aware of dietary needs so I had no issues being gluten free. Tasty, well cooked burger (minus bun and chips and salad on the side was a decent portion that I din't finish it all. My friend had a sausage sandwich was was rated as very tasty and as it was the special was only £5.95 sausage in ciabatta with onion relish with chips and salad, so again another big portion. Also on the sunday, left over roasties, veggies and meat were on the bar not enough for complete portions and I would say on the basis of my limited sampling (beef, bit of parsnip and a roastie, that the Sunday lunch would be well worth a booking! . So, I'm not a local and it'll probably be a year before I go back, but I'll be definitely heading back to try more of the menu and just hangout there after a day of boarding :

A really nice little pub, very ye old world, but in a good way. The locals frequent it, but don 't seem to mind the tourists at all, and some of the local bands they get in are truthfully really good. We 've seen Three Minute Warning in there a few times, who are exceptional, and a few others as well. The beer is cheap, as you 'd expect from the local and the view as you walk outside is awesome as you look down to Trevaunance Cove. Love this place, the atomsphere is unmatched for me. The only downside was the long walk back up Rocky Lane to where we were staying! Video link: [hidden link]

Lovely little pub and very nice rooms with fantastic views over the sea. The food is very nice too.

Eaten there twice recently, food is good, last meal tasted really good but felt a little ripped off, starter incomplete, belly pork could have been a more generous portion and partners desert was missing the rhubarb. Beer howvever was very good.
