We (my parents and I) popped in to Atrium on Saturday after having a look round Newark for the first time. After spotting it on the way round, we made our way back there later, enticed by the meal deal. Although dubious about what the quality would be, the meals were excellent and very good value for money, and very generous portions, especially my own BBQ chicken. My parents enjoyed their meals too. The price was excellent. £17.85 for three meals (drinks were extra). The half-a-lager-shandy was £1.85. Very good. Some of the seats and tables looked a bit rough round the edges but it didn't put us off, as the staff were extremely friendly. The downside was the music, which we liked but seemed to get turned up louder and louder. As it is open-plan for a nightclub, the sound travels quite a bit, so you could easily hear a group of people playing a game of pool at the other end of the large room. Never mind. Still enjoyable for the lovely meals and friendly staff.

It's a shame because the place is really nice inside and I'm sure if the staff were more attentive/aware of how to treat customers then the place wouldn't be empty most of the time!
I visited The Atrium last week for lunch. It was the first time I had been in there, and I was very impressed with the style of the place, considering some of the places in Newark arent exactly nice to be in! The place was empty given the time of day we went in, so we we ordered at the bar, and received our foor within around 15 minutes which I though was very quick. I ordered the Bacon Cheese burger, which was served with massive chips, salad and coleslaw. The food was well presented and there was plenty of it. It was cooked properly, and the food generally was very good, apart from the chips, which were more like soggy fatty lumps than chips, so I was a little dissapointed with those, but there were plenty of them, and they were huge! The burger itself was very big as well, and I struggled to finish it. It was tasty, and smothered with melted cheddar, which was a nice touch. My friend had the special Black Rock steak, which when it appeared I found really interesting since Id never come across it before. The Steak is served on a super heated slab of granite, and actually comes out raw but garnished, and you place it on the rock to cook it to your exact specification. I thought this was a really interesting way to serve it, as Id never come across that before. The steak was really tasty as I tried it, and I think the vood was really quite good, especially for the price we paid per meal, which was around £7 or £8 each. You are served enough food to ensure you are filled by it, the quality was great, the service was fast, and The Atrium seems to be a nice place to eat for lunch, and I would definately go back.
Tacky. But good astmosphere at weekends.
