This restaurant review is about a beautiful hotel located in a stunning setting. Upon arrival, guests are greeted with views of the Hardangerfjord from the patio and garden, offering a peaceful and picturesque scene of water and mountains. The rooms at Brakanes are charming and quiet, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. The hotel's restaurant is exceptional, with each course being a masterpiece. The venison dish is particularly outstanding. In the surrounding area, there are hiking trails and runs in Ulvik that are unforgettable. A morning run around the fjord is especially peaceful, and in the spring, cherry trees are in bloom. There are also small cafes along the water where guests can enjoy a quick bite or relax.
Charming hotel facing Hardanger fjord in the quaint town of Ulvik. Service: Staff is friendly helpful. Pointed out local activities and provided extra room key on request. Room reservation comes with 'be active ' vouchers for activities in Ulvik; however, not provided automatically on check-in. Received immediately on request. Food: Enjoyed buffet dinner and breakfast at restaurant. Wide selection and buffet items refilled often, clean plates/glasses. Most items were tasty. Water pitchers refilled often, used cutlery swapped, and used plates bussed quickly. No complaints. Rooms: Cosy and clean. Majestic views of Hardanger fjord from private balcony. Bathroom had good water temperature/pressure. Wake-up call provided as promised. Bottom Line: Picturesque views alone warrant 5 stars. Combined with the availability of vouchers, cosy rooms, and good food this place is a solid 5.
Located in Ulvik, this restaurant has the perfect setting. While the room and facilities may have a slightly outdated feel, this only adds to the charm of the small town atmosphere. The view is absolutely stunning - waking up in the morning and stepping out onto the balcony will make you forget all your worries. The friendly staff only adds to the positive experience. Additionally, the trampoline and garden are a hit with both kids and adults alike.
Apart from the great location and delicious breakfast, the hotel is not worth the stay. The rooms are poorly equipped, lacking blackout curtains in a country with long sunny hours. There are no provisions for making tea or coffee in the room; one must go to the lobby for it.
