Pigeonhole Cafe & Wine Bar - Ultimo

We recently visited this café for a quick bite. It was conveniently located just a few doors down from our Airbnb, perfect for grabbing breakfast before starting our day. The café is quite small with only a few tables, so I wouldn't recommend making it a regular stop. It's more of a place to visit when other options are closed.

Was delighted to discover that this place was very close to my hotel Vulcan. It is a small cafe with a few tables, serving breakfast and lunch. Excellent coffee available, sandwich I chose was tasty. Reasonable prices for Sydney! This place closes at 3pm...so be mindful of that if you are popping in for late lunch. Staff are friendly. Recommended if you are living/staying in the Ultimo area.

My partner and I visited a café today (29/9) from our hotel, the Vulkan, for a snack. We found the café to be very small, a bit cramped, but the service was helpful and friendly. My partner had a weak latte and a ham and cheese croissant, which he enjoyed. I ordered a cheese and tomato toastie on sourdough and a flat white coffee, extra hot with no foam. I ended up with two small sandwiches because of the small slices of sourdough, which was quite generous. My coffee was delicious and prepared just as I asked. We were both satisfied with our meals. One negative aspect was a messy table left behind by a young couple with small children. Instead of cleaning up the mess on the table properly, the waitress simply swept everything onto the floor, leaving the area looking dirty. Perhaps the waitress could benefit from more training in cleanliness. However, the service was still friendly and polite, and we were pleased with our order.

I've stopped in Pigeonhole quite a few times even going out of my way to visit them instead of others closer. Each visit entails a great coffee (perfect strength and temp), often I try the daily specials around noon often a Vietnamese Noodle...dish or roll. All have been quite enjoyable and good portions. The staff are always welcoming and friendly yet often flat out during peak times. Its small yet offers all I seek in a cafe.
