Sol Rio

Description

With bold, craveable Mexican flavors—from an acclaimed salsa and spinach-artichoke dip to a standout carne asada burrito and shrimp Caesar—this restaurant often delivers memorable dishes and attentive service. Experiences vary: guests report long waits, occasional lukewarm plates, rude management, and troubling food-safety concerns. The casual, night-out atmosphere suits couples and casual diners, but inconsistent service and hygiene issues temper recommendations. Enjoy the signature dishes, but allow extra time and exercise caution.

They have the greatest spinach artichoke dip I have ever tasted. The service is always excellent, the food is always excellent, a must for a night out for dinner!

When we arrived, they were busy but by the time we got our food, the restaurant was at about 20% capacity. After waiting about 30 minutes for our meal, I inquired of the hostess and a manager and was treated very rudely. While trying to speak to them, our waiter (who paid very little attention to us even though there were only three other tables occupied in his section) came rushing out of the kitchen with our meal. According to the rude manager, it took so long since my husband had ordered the special. Most restaurants have an item on special with the anticipation they will need to have a lot of it prepared. Well, for having taken so long to prepare it was lukewarm at best. Tasted good, but with the lousy service and rude staff, they won 't get our business again, nor a recommendation.

The food is AMAZING! I highly recommend the carne asada burrito or the Mexican shrimp Caesar salad. My husband and I have never had anything so delicious! The staff is very attentive and friendly as well.

My fiancé and I dined at Sol Rio for the second time in October 2009, and unfortunately, it became a very unpleasant experience. I started feeling unwell shortly after our meal, and I ended up spending two days experiencing severe vomiting. Now, nearly a month later, I found myself in the emergency room over the weekend. The doctor advised that this kind of food poisoning typically lasts only 2 to 3 days, but I am still suffering and can barely keep down the anti-nausea medication prescribed to me. I have an appointment with a gastroenterologist tomorrow because my condition hasn't improved. I've lost 20 pounds and am unable to even get out of bed. I strongly advise caution!

The staff was impolite, the food was cold and reheated in the microwave, and the dining room floors were dirty.
