We went to celebrate our 45th Wedding Anniversary, the date coincided with Mothers Day in France, 29th May, and there was a special menu for that day.The venue itself is just lovely, traditional old chateau with a very modern recently opened dining room, comfortable and stylish. The food was superb, each course prepared with care, beautifully presented and delicious in its simplicity. The service was excellent, friendl... What Aurore Guillon doesn't like about Château de Massillan:
This is an extradinary location in Uchaux with a very nice room but this is where the good news stops, our arrival (and this is an understatement) not very personal, at two occasions we wanted to book a table (lunch and diner) and we were...asked to visit the restaurants in the surroundings because they were understaffed...so take this into account when you come here View all feedback.
We booked for dinner with friends. We arrived a little early and where asked to sit in a lounge area next to the restaurant and have a drink until our table was ready. All very fine but after twenty minutes nobody had arrived to take our drinks order so we wandered back to our designated table and sat there until our friends arrived. We then waited a few more minutes before being approached for drinks. By this time I was getting irate because a first rule of hospitality is to greet and offer a drink. Think this is down to poor training. Having said this the staff were otherwise charming. The food was of very high quality and we all enjoyed our different courses. So to summarise great setting, excellent food but initial service and attention needs to be much improved.
A beautiful venue, with very friendly and helpful staff, great food and lovely rooms. Stayed here for 6 nights, including a large event, and everything was perfect. This is a rural idyll with elegant modern touches and classic French features. The food is outstanding, wine expertly chosen and grounds very well presented.
I think we may have been quite lucky to get an amazing room, with our own sun terrace overlooking the courtyard, but nevertheless, this place is truly stunning. Lovely pool, excellent food and really lovely modern rooms. Hiring bikes made for a great roam around the countryside. Definitely worth a visit
Terrible. they hang a blind menu with some ingredients from a list. we said we hadn't been crying, and they served us to cry! we chose the 5-course menu, but the difference with the 4-course dinner was 20€ for a risotto with summer truffles rubbed...half above the bowl, half above the table. the waiter could not even explain the difference with black truffle. all the dishes were too salty. the chef takes the guests of the hotel for baptism. the 4th court, which was dessert was the size of the thumb, from a tiny piece of pineapple, passion fruit sorbet and micro-picked baked. Don't go! It's a shady gourmet restaurant.
Plated like a Michelin restaurant, with elements to the meal to elevate it, like amuse bouches, hors d'oeuvres and petit fours. A stunning restaurant with views over the lake where at dinner time, you can watch the sun set. The restaurant was filled with an...orange glow as we drunk champagne. Just perfect.
