The location alone makes this a 'must' to visit on the Starnbergersee. For some reason, early June was a very quiet time and we easily got a table (with the best view possible - see photo). Service was attentive - the calf's liver was perfectly cooked but the Truffle noodles with tomatoes and asparagus was an odd combination that didn't quite work. View all feedback.
What Laurence Steuber doesn't like about Wirtschaft Zum Haering:
This Beer garden is right at the sea. You sit with a good shelter below big trees. However the food is very disappointing and too expensive. The only thing we could recommend is the "Stockerlfisch". View all feedback.
Went to this place on a summer evening during the week so it was the perfect weather, not overcrowded and the local fish dish I had ("Renke") was really yummie!!Service was great - but as I wrote, it wasn't an overcrowded evening.Stunning view on the lake and the Alps.
Took S-bahn to Tutzing with our free travel pass from the Intercity Hotel in Munich. Had been as far a Starnberg before and liked the lake. After walking the sometimes muddy lake promenade from below city center in the off and on rain we came to the end and found this place. Outside was a soggy beer garden but inside was a warm, dry, enclosed terrace room with only us and another couple. An attentive young women took the wet umbrella and wet coats. I had a small Feldsalat and my husband had Apfel Strudel, both possibly overpriced but welcome and served quickly. Enjoyed the view and hospitality and a bit of old world charm. It was a happy find!
5 for dinner a real international mix of people including a local.this place occupies a stunning position on the lakeside and is impressive as you approach from the road.in early on a quiet midweek night. food was on and service seemed a little strange and indifferent although food was good.admire all the pictures of famous people visit this place while you're there...
Great location. The food is not up to par - too expensive for what you pay for. Slow service. Older crowd.
