Great views of the river while you eat. Large menu. I had the gulf shrimp fried with slaw and smoked Gouda grits. It was excellent. The hush puppies were almost as good as my grandmother's. Definitely going back next time I'm in town. View all feedback.
Had a great lunch here today with a beautiful view! The food is all reasonably priced and they give you delicious bread/muffins beforehand. I had the catfish which came with hushpuppies and I must admit it was very good. My sides were coleslaw and squash which I was also impressed with. I got to try the salmon as well and if you like salmon you wont be disappointed. Only reason I cant give 5 stars is the past two times i've come it was just mediocre. Overall pretty good food, but incredible views!
Absolutely, ridiculously delicious. WOW!! The amberjack with mashed sweet potatoes and grits was phenomenal. Sweet potatoes whipped to a consistency of baby food extra smooth. Grits hit the spot and blackened Amberjack tasted great. Fantastic views from the outdoor dining area. Highly recommend.
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with my latest visit to The Cypress Inn. When they first opened their doors years ago they were the go to place for traditional Southern Cuisine including delicious Fried Chicken and Catfish. Throw in Turnip Greens, Blackeyed Peas, Coleslaw, Corn Muffins and you can see where I'm going. Unfortunately they lost their way several years ago and were reduce to best serving institutional food in The Pavilion. I am happy to announce that this has seemingly all changed. I was lucky enough to be treated to lunch today at The Cypress Inn and for the first time in a long time the Food and Service matched the unparalleled views of The Black Warrior River. Upon entering the restaurant we were warmly greeted and quickly seated with a wonderful view of Tuscaloosa's beautiful River. I ordered the Fried Catfish with Turnip Greens and Hoppin' John as my sides. My beverage of choice? Sweet Tea of course. Our food arrived quickly and was served hot and delicious. The taste and consistency of the Catfish met the definition of what my experience as a Southerner demands. My glass of Sweet Tea never fell below half full before our server quickly topped it off. Welcome Back Cypress Inn, welcome back!
If I am ever in Tuscaloosa again I will definitely be back. Hannah recommended a few dishes and she was spot on some of the best shrimp and grits I've ever had, they rival Charleston SC Give them a try you will not be disappointed. How they are only 3 star average is beyond me. Service was excellent, food was great and the view wonderful.
Beautiful spring night on the river. Food service was somewhat slow. Cute and attentive waitress. Atmosphere is reason to go
