We choose the place for our new years dinner because it had a exiciting menu and nice ambiance. But what we experienced was something else. First of all the service was very unatentive and did never ask us for what we wanted to drink with our 5 meal course. We had to ask and remind them after doing so. Also they messed up when we preordered and paid half the price on beforehand, when coming to the actual food. We askes for the vegiterian menu and was served meat directly when we sat down. The food looked intersting but just one of the courses gave us a nice tasting experience. The dishes was ok but they could have been better put together and smaller in size because we were allready full after two dishes.
We went there for a late lunch, around 3 pm. We took a club sandwich and fish tacos and had to wait 40 minutes to have them even though the place was empty. When finally we received our dishes the French fries coming with the sandwich were already cold. Disappointing.
This was our second visit to this beautiful place after seeing it listed on travelyucatan.com as a Restaurant/ Beach Club with a pool, which most others don't have. It also has rustic cabanas to rent which are directly on the beach plus some rooms in concrete buildings next to the restaurant. First, the location is superb, slightly raised above a very wide section of beach. The restaurant overlooks the pool and you can eat there too. We had the mixed ceviche and fried squid, priced in pesos. The portion of ceviche was huge and the squid was some of the best we've ever had and we've had a lot, lightly battered and very tender and somehow more flavorful. I don't know if there's a charge for using their facilities if you don't eat or drink but it'd be well worth it if so. There's a couple of hammocks by the pool and down on the beach there are well spaced palapas and loungers with cushions, and the waiters come down regularly. There were only four other people there, and the rest of the beach was practically deserted, it was heaven. Had nice clean bathrooms and an outdoor shower. We enquired about their rooms which were a little pricey. The beach cabanas were very rustic and $100 per night, the others, also with no a/c or fridges were $200. No wonder the place was empty! We won't be staying there which is a shame but great place to spend the day. They don't seem to do any marketing, no listings on other travel sites I could find, blank website, very odd and don't know how they stay in business so just wanted to give them a plug.
