I had the unfortunate choice of the Hot Garlic Chicken. What I received was a handful of small, dry, overcooked pieces of chicken thigh—no chicken breast in sight. The only flavor present was a bitter, overly salty soy sauce. The rest of the dish was a sad mix of canned vegetables that were just as unappetizing, all soaked in that terrible soy sauce without a hint of any other seasoning. I also tried the Lemongrass Chicken Spring Rolls, which were absolutely disgusting. I won't go into detail about them as it would be a waste of words. My family members all shared my disappointment with their meals as well. Even the Chicken Fried Rice that we ordered for the kids was a disaster—truly awful.
I can't recommend the bûn enough. It's beautifully prepared and incredibly fresh. The pho is fantastic too, even on a hot summer day. Food: 5/5
The atmosphere was extremely quiet, almost vacant. They didn't bring enough plates for our order. I requested straws and lemon for the water, but those never arrived. When I asked about the missing plate, the staff member responded with attitude, saying, “It’s coming, just give me a minute,” in a dismissive tone. With improved service and a better environment, this restaurant could potentially be decent, but my experience was disappointing and unsatisfactory due to the attitude of the wait staff.
I've been enjoying Vietnamese cuisine for about two years now. Although I drove past Ri Le’s numerous times during my high school years, I never actually gave it a try. Last month, while visiting Tulsa from Seattle, I was accompanied by a friend who is a native of Saigon. The menu at Ri Le offered a variety of dishes that were quite different from what I've encountered at Vietnamese restaurants in Seattle. My companion had a conversation with Ri Le, who shared his background from Vietnam. She explained to me that this was the reason for the unique flavors and dishes, as he hails from a different region of the country than she does. She often takes me to places that offer a Saigon taste, while I believe Ri Le is from Central or Northern Vietnam. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and I only regret not trying it out when I lived there.
