Before I share my review, I want to mention that my trip was fully sponsored by Oprah and Weight Watchers. Yes, you read that correctly. Now onto my experience at the restaurant. View all feedback.
We recently went to Miraval with a day pass to enjoy the day there. There were several highlights but the overall experience was dampened by the service. The ambiance is delightful, if a bit dated, and the spa area is the star of the spaces with panoramic views of the mountains from the gorgeous sitting area. The spa was generally the highlight of the day with nice saunas and a lovely massage. The yoga class and fitness classes I took were good, average based on what you'd expect at a regular gym, with kind instructors. The yoga was also an interesting twist, doing it on moving platforms a new experience I was glad to try. The person working at the smoothie bar was really unwelcoming, a few guests even commented as I went up to get in line that they wouldn't recommend going up there based on how they were treated. The staff in the restaurant was reasonable one commented on my weight in a way that made me feel pretty sad and took the wind out of my sails for the day. It was a mixed visit and while there were definitely highlights, I'd prob try a different spa next time.
The food is amazing. Dinner is the only time when you need a reservation and a good part of the menu changes every night, which results in a super fun adventure with little repetition. What makes it even more amazing is that dinner is more of a tapas experience, so you can actually experience several choices at one sitting. The classes are amazing. I loved the creative photography stroll with Nancy. She took a hard subject and brought it quickly into something both fun and useful. The slack line class was an interesting dive into something I never tried before. The five-hour hike with Tika and Matthew Voss was wonderful, and the highlight was the deep conversation we all had together. I stayed in one of the villas and the architecture was stunning as were the views. On the downside... The onboarding experience was like herding cats. The website is awful. The communication was just as bad. Check in was a disaster that never happened to me anywhere else before with my luggage being tagged with someone else 's name. Even parking is bizarre. A great welcome when you first get there, but super weird attempting to go off property. HINT #1: Get the keys to your car and do everything yourself. The lot is small enough that self-parking is basically valet. HINT #2: GPS can take you on a shortcut to nowhere coming here. Yes, they make mention of it AFTER you fail, but it would be nice to know beforehand. Basically, I found everything before going and getting there to be an awful experience. Whereas, everything onsite is basically wonderful. If you can ignore the frustrations up front, this is still a great place with great services to experience. Also, the all-inclusive nature of it is something that works really well, but is also something I needed to ask for more details on since I am used to tipping and paying for food. (Alcohol is an add-on charge)
Venturing to Miraval was like stepping into a secluded retreat. The panoramic mountain views from the spa are simply breathtaking, and the unique yoga classes on moving platforms were an exciting twist. Despite a few service hiccups, the overall ambiance and spa experience were wonderfully rejuvenating.
Came during low season, end of July, so it wasn't very crowded, which was nice to help decompress from life. Friendly staff with interesting stories of the rich famous guests, attentive service, fresh food snacks. Spa area was nice quiet to just take in the panoramic view of the Santa Catalina mountains. It is also monsoon season so be prepared for quick downpours. Highly recommend the celestial yoga, we were fortunate enough to catch the blood moon see Musk's Starlink in the sky. Great place for self care the only worries are what/when to eat how to juggle the activities in your schedule.
My girlfriend and I just did a day pass at Miraval. We were looking to relax and enjoy unique experiences. I hadn 't been to Miraval since my children were born (7 years ago! . While the grounds at Miraval are beautiful and peaceful, the service and organization is disappointing. Several of the activities we signed up for were cancelled last minute from yoga, a clay class, as well as a painting class. They literally hand you a sealed envelope when you show up to an activity/class that lets you know that a later class/activity/service has been cancelled. For part of my new found time, plan B was to go on the treadmill (which I can do at home! because there was nothing else appealing offered at the time (a choice of 2 things, which were redundant of other classes . For the rest of the time, plan B was to enjoy more time at the spa facilities indoors (as the temps are still over 100 degrees! , but Miraval closed the indoor hot tub for maintenance (it was 1pm.... . Plan C was to use the pools (hot tub, etc. outside, but they were so full of bugs we spent only 5 minutes and I was stung by a bee. The spa desk was not super helpful, and after several minutes and a phone call to the manager (to find out what they could do they finally gave me an icepack and told me that was all they could do unless they called security, who might have medicine. The security guard did come and was helpful...but asked me how long I was staying and once I told him I was a day pass, he left and I overheard him tell the spa desk 'she 's just a day pass... ' Would never go back. Unfortunately it was all too reminiscent of my last visit when half of my spa services were cancelled, with no substitutes offered. The frustrating thing about Miraval is that they require you to sign up to every single activity and if you do not show up (even to the free classes they will charge you...but they are allowed to cancel classes, activities, and spa services last minute without any consequences. It is not very relaxing to have to keep rescheduling and rethinking your day on your spa day... The resort credit they give you is impossible to spend as they cancel too many things...there isn 't anything to spend it on!
