Nigel Tabb’s Sunday roasts are always special but this menu was particularly good. We only have beef as a rare treat, so, when we do have it, it has to be good. Today’s short rib dish was superb. The accompanying dishes on the menu made for an excellent leisurely lunch. Highly recommended. View all feedback.
What lizbrian dislikes about Tabb's:
Rather than write a review each time, I have bundled three meals together. I can honestly say the two Sunday lunches and the one evening meal were up to the normal very high standards we have come to expect from Nigel Tabb. Nigel is a... View all feedback.
We've been there a year ago in our holidays and were quite surprised about this lovely restaurant.
....better than all the rest. Nigel Tabb's restaurant is still the top fine dining experience to be had in West Cornwall. For those who know their wines, it has one of the best , well balanced and value for money wine lists around. Service is impeccable and supports the intimate atmosphere that has been created in this former pub just a relatively short walk from the centre of Truro. For a special celebration or one of Nigel’s occasional Sunday roasts (check the website) it is well worth seeking out. Booking is essential.
The restaurant is nicely situated on the outskirts of the old town of Truro. It was not busy when we went but the atmosphere was pleasant and the service helpful.
Had a great dinner at this intimate restaurant food was excellent quality and we really wanted to give 5 stars, but our overall experience was a bit less than that purely because the front of house, though very efficient, was rather brusque! We weren’t asked to try our wine it was just sloshed into our glasses...... But our food was well worth a visit and we shall go back!
Having been meaning to try Tabb’s for ages we eventually got around to going, but despite the rating on here it was very poor. Two things were wrong, the service and the food. The waitress looked and behaved as if she didn’t want to be there and certainly didn’t make us feel welcome. It was all very rushed and from the moment we got in we felt we were being harried to finish and get out, which was strange as there was only one other table occupied in the whole place. Although the individual elements of the dishes were well cooked, the combinations on the plate were just odd, like the chef was trying to be too clever and it just didn’t work.At over 100 pounds for 2 courses and wine, it wasn’t cheap, maybe we got a bad night but we won’t be going back
