Good, simple food at a reasonable price in a renovated old building. Servers are friendly Newfoundlanders. Desserts are wonderful, especially the homemade lemon meringue pie. Went here for either lunch or dinner each of the 3 days we spent in Elliston. View all feedback.

Place was simple, historic and charming. The server (girl) looked bored. I ordered a BLT sandwich with a cup of tea. She said sandwich came with fries or mashed potatoes. I declined both. I was really looking forward to eating my sandwich. When it came it didn't look very full. I opened it up and there was perhaps 2 pieces of bacon and one slice of tomato and a skimpy piece of lettuce. I was still hungry when I left.... View all feedback.
Ceasar salad was good but ask fir the dressing on the side as I was suggested by another patron. I only used half of the dressing and it was very good. My seafood chowder was tasty but could have contained more seafood. My husband had the cod tongues which were tasty with a light batter.

I guess they think most people will fill up on the fries My husband had fish & Brutus and he enjoyed it.
The place is nice but it smelled like old hot fat when entering. There was a friendly man first to bring our drinks, later we were served by a bored looking girl. Jiggs dinner was sold out, so we had salad and fish. The fish was ok, but without any flavor, the chips were way to many. While serving the fish the girl dropped by accident the sauce tartare behind my back. No big deal, she brought a new one. When leaving the restaurant I realized at the car that she didn't only drop the sauce but also fouled my jacket and bag. She did not even mention it, although she must have seen it. I had to clean everything and even the car stank from the sauce. No place that will see me again.
We stayed nearby and were so happy to eat here one night. super casual and real home cooking. we talked to the staff and they have been cooking there for several years even though management has recently changed. we had a fantastic seafood chowder that was well-seasoned, loaded with seafood and, thankfully, not gloppy. most of us then had the pan fried cod with scrunchions - everything executed just right. they had homemade pies and desserts and on the way out, the chef gave me the recipe for her chowder. it was one of our best stops on the bonavista peninsula.
We were the only customers in the restaurant, so the service was great! I had Fish & Brewis, which was okay. Very bland - but I've never had it before so I'm not sure if it was spot on!
