We visited three times... read more A faboulous place to eat be it a cake or snack all freshly made so much to choose from. Enjoy the excellent drama of making a cup of tea. We visited three times in just two days it was the best I have ever been to in Trieste and I've visited for over 50 years....can't wait to go again.

Pleasant atmosphere, nice service. Has tables both indoors and, in summer, also outdoors. Offers several daily newspapers for perusal while drinking coffee/tea. Tasty choice of baked goods (try the excellent ricotta kiffel, for instance). Great selection of teas (black, green, white and herbal). All are unusual gourmet teas and do not come from a box of ready-made teabags. Good choice of different kinds of coffee (Viennese coffee is recommended). Great selection of homemade fruit juices with unusual combinations of ingredients. Reasonably priced, especially considering the quality of beverages. A minus: often the music inside the coffee shop is a bit too loud. Recommended.

I was pleased to find a vegan option for my quick lunch: I had magazzino del contadino that sounds like farmer barn/farmer warehouse . It 's a course loaded with courgette, tomatoes, rice, buckwheat, sunflower seeds roasted with turmeric.

The cafe was busy inside and out, customers enjoying the beautiful morning weather at tables and chairs on the footpath. Inside the decor is fresh and modern, the cabinets were full of delicious looking food. We had no idea of the process of ordering and just joined a queue, I got the distinct feeling that I had ordered in the incorrect manner, maybe food with one attendant and coffee at another, I don't know. I always make sure I am polite and use my basic Italian but I felt like I was a nuisance. With that aside we sat inside and enjoyed our coffee with a pastry filled with ricotta and nuts and the slice of cherry strudel, they were both very satisfying.
