This establishment faces challenges that could impact its longevity. Areas of concern include a lack of culinary expertise, evidenced by poorly executed dishes such as tough octopus and stale grissini. The ambiance is marred by an empty restaurant and an owner's casual attire. The choice of wines by the glass seems misguided, and the dessert, specifically the tiramisu, raises questions about preparation methods. The overall dining experience falls short of the expected fine dining standard, suggesting a need for a reevaluation, particularly in the realm of culinary leadership.
It was a Monday evening and a lot of places were closed so we wandered round trying to find a nice fish restaurant .Ego had a couple of tables free outside WE had a lovely mixed fish dish and fish Al cartouche.wine was reasonably priced and they had a lovely tiramisu.
Ignore the bad reviews!!! This is a beautiful traditional and classic Italian restaurant with fantastic cuisine. The plates are smaller than normal but delicious. A little more expensive than other places but worth it. Set in a small pedestrian street very quiet atmosphere. The staff have little English but are so friendly and very hospitable. We are so happy we came here! You must book to get an outside table.
When after 5 min.of not being noticed by the staff(there were at least 5 empty tables), as if we came to gods themselves, we were taken our order. The waitor was utterly unpolite and sarcastic. He treated us as lower class, joking about if I perhaps wanted a duck and so on...as if we weren't the ones who are paying customers. Finally, lasagne were bad, obviously warmed up. Spaghetti were ok(for the price of 20EURO a plate! That price wasn't written. Bathroom not so clean! To sum up, if you want good service, pleasant hospitable feeling, this is not the place for you! I wouldn't reccomment it to anyone. If you, by any chance, wind up there, expect EGOism and a rip off. Oh, and no good evening nor good bye. Was it ok? Nothing.
Once we managed to block out the rude, pretentious and ignorant waiter called Gianluca, we very much enjoyed excellent cuisine, especially the spaghetti with asparagus and red mullet, and the “seafood in a bag”. Back to Gianluca: Rude about our attempts to order in Italian, pretentiousness that I have only seen in very expensive restaurants (this is not one) and ignorant about the menu and how the dishes are cooked. Lots of stars to the chef but none to the service.
