we liked the cottage to the breakfast and if they had served wein, we would have gone to dinner! I had kekse and gravy and rührei and my friend had a spinat omelett and hash brown. both meals were very good. I can definitely recommend this restaurant. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Cottage:
here b/c it was next to our hotel and saw it on happycow. I had the pancakes that were at best moderate. the coffee was typical diner coffee. this place may have been worth a listing on happy cow 10 years ago, but simply offer a veggie burger, hasn't really cut it anymore. even denny’s offers a veggie burger. Sure, they can get a cheese omelet and hash brew, but they can get it everywhere. that said, let me be nice.... View all feedback.
The food was absolutely delicious. The loaded potato soup was fantastic and the omelette was mouthwatering. Rob provided excellent service. I would definitely return to this restaurant.
I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant starting with breakfast, which was so good that I returned for lunch. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly, and the restaurant was very clean. Dinner was just as satisfying, and I plan to go back for breakfast again before leaving town. This place is a hidden gem, and the people of Traverse City are fortunate to have it. The homemade, scratch-cooked food was outstanding.
We met our sister-in-law for dinner at this restaurant. I tried the all-you-can-eat perch and it was fantastic. The monkey bread was a tasty treat. Our server was very friendly and engaging with the kids, even showing them how to make straw packaging snakes. We were pleasantly surprised by the fresh black cherry cobbler that came out of the oven at the end of our meal, it was warm and comforting on a cold night. The children couldn't get enough of the chocolate lava cake. Our server even took them on a kitchen tour and gave them extra treats to take home. We will definitely be back to try more items on the menu. On our return visit, I ordered the meatloaf sandwich which was filling and delicious. The desserts were also a hit, with my daughter enjoying the chocolate chip pancakes from the kids' menu and sharing a chocolate lava cake with her brother for an extra dose of chocolate.
Our family visited the cottage for an early dinner. It was an extraordinary experience that surprised me why I went by so often without thinking. The waiter was excellent, as the manager who checked with us several times. Another bonus surprise was our waitress with free monkey bread! It was a delicious starter! We brought our toddler and he was also enthusiastic. One of us has the whole meat Omelet (Carnivore? , that was very well seasoned and chock full of taste. The other adult in our party got the reuben sandwich, which was also very good. To exclude everything, the pricing was fair. We'll be back soon. Very recommended for a casual meal at a good price. The decor is average and could use a refreshment, but we didn't care. The restaurant was very clean.
We were looking for something different to experience on our last visit to Traverse City. So we Googled restaurants in the area and after reading the reviews, we chose to visit The Cottage. Based on our experience, The Cottage is a must visit restaurant for guests who appreciate quality and the fine details of food and service. Growing up in the 70s, we found the background music a perfect compliment. Unfortunately it is not very common to find this caliber of food and service at many restaurants in the present day regardless of how much one spends. So we found The Cottage charming and refreshing. Finer dining on a reasonable budget! We stopped in twice over the course of our stay in Traverse City once for dinner and once for breakfast. The food is definitely made from scratch and worth every penny! Both hostesses and servers were very personable and attentive. Taking pride in their work definitely showed. Kudos for a job well done to all of the staff! The Cottage is definitely on our list of restaurants to visit again in the future! We highly recommend The Cottage for guests who appreciate the quality and details of dining in.
