First time i tried the food here. It was nice. I order bento box, it include chicken, vegetable, 2 pieces of tempura prawn and steam rice. It just $11, i think it is a good value but the steam rice it us too small portion for me. The gyoza is so so for me. The big impression here is the staff is very friendly and nice. The service is good. The owner is very nice person, friendly and has more experience in cooking. Th... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Tokyo House Teppanyaki:
Went here to get lunch takeaway but they don't have a normal mixed box of sushi / sashimi lunchbox like normal. Ended up getting a 5 piece sushi box off the menu which had 2 pieces of Salmon and two prawn for $8 !! Fish was warm too. Very unpleasant. This restaurant needs to cater for the busy lunch takeaway trade that all the other places in Traralgon do. The fact that the restaurant was empty whist all the others w... View all feedback.
In Japan, Tepanyaki restaurants cook beautiful fresh foods at your table to show you the high quality ingredients you are getting. There are not many, if any at all, that throw food at you. It appears that this style has evolved out of USA Teppanyaki traditions. When the staff came to our table of five friends and started putting a paper 'bib' on me for the coming fun food experience, I felt somehow uneasy. It felt to me like I had arrived for my first meal in the Assisted Living Facility, where helpful staff put this old timer's teeth in a jar and were starting to feed him.The foods were mostly fresh, but the sallops were pretty hammered in a pre-cook alomg with a few other bits. There were a few interesting dipping sauces, but for my chili tolerant mouth and Indian -hardened taste buds, the meal was not at all strong enough to capture my interests, Yo, were was the Wasabi? MIA The rice screamed Chinese!!! If one goes to any competitor calling themselves Japanese, you will get way better rice. This seems to be a restaurant that is suffering serious fatigue. The zeal and pride of producing a vibrant restaurant experience has long since deteriorated into a shabby parody of USA Japanese style theater which very little to do with food.

My friends and I had a great night dining at this restaurant. The food was delicious, the staff was entertaining, and the service from the host, James, was excellent. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fun and casual dining experience at a reasonable price. They have options to suit everyone's tastes!
Enjoyed a great meal tonight, with very friendly staff. Lots of different food, all very tasty ...sauces were very nice. Loved the fish course, in particular.
Finding a Teppanyaki restaurant in a country city is always a surprise. Not many operators are prepared to risk the capital that it takes firstly to outfit such a restaurant and to be willing to bring a new experience to people who are more used to traditional dining. I always make a point of dining in this restaurant when I'm in this region and in January 2017 dined there for the third time. James, the host who has a brilliant memory for remembering the names of his clients from visit to visit is a very experienced operator. The quality of the food served and cooked in the Teppanyaki style on a hotplate in front of the diners is excellent. The staff are attentive and very friendly. Don't expect a cheap banquet because teppanyaki fare should always be made with high quality ingredients. This restaurant is certainly an oasis in the country that brings its own special style to the Gippsland area. As far as teppanyaki dining is concerned, it is head and shoulders above similar restaurants in other country areas. Don't expect the standard that you would find in a capital city as teppanyaki chefs are a rare breed in country areas. Having that in mind, Tokyo House is indeed an oasis that is worth experiencing and I'm certain to dine there on my next trip to the area.
