Bountiful Thai - Townsville

I went to this restaurant last minute and the food was cooked in just 5 minutes. It was absolutely delicious, with generous portions of fresh chicken and perfectly cooked vegetables. I would definitely go back. I was so impressed that I forgot to take a photo because I ate it too quickly!

Appearances can, for many, be debilitating. For example, when we went in search of a Thai restaurant in Townsville (our fav cuisine), the closest (we were walking) was Bountiful Thai. Thing is, it didn't register that well on TripAdvisor, so we walked up, had a look and the first thing my sister in law said was; "there's no way I'm eating there". To wit my wife walked inside and looked over the counter into what was a very clean kitchen. After some coercing, my sister in law capitulated and we sat at the no-name front tables and chairs.You have to understand that Bountiful Thai is a bottom feeder in the decor stakes. But hey, we were there to eat good clean food - and it was.We ordered four mains, lots of rice and an entree of curry puffs. We also walked across the road and purchased some wine. Sitting here, out front of this somewhat downtrodden looking shop, we had only to wait a very short time before the food arrived. Rather than a blob by blow, let me simply say that I have had better before, but only by a small margin. The food was great, we all loved it, the service terrific, all of the veggies were al dente, and the price was very good.We weren't even hit with a corkage charge. Overall it was great and highly recommended.Do yourself a favour and cast aside any pretence, and simply enjoy a meal here.

For authentic Thai in Townsville look no further. This quaint family owned and operated business will not disappoint!Really fresh vegetables and high quality meat and fish are their starting points. A terrific selection of traditional Thai cuisine served up by friendly and obliging staff.Nice touches of Thailand in the decor of this unpretentious little restaurant.Glorious fresh huge hibiscus flowers are a truly lovely touch on the tables.

This little hole in the wall restaurant had good food. I had the chicken pineapple curry which was very good (I eat a fair amount of Thai food) and the others in my party liked their meals too, although not as much as I did. There is not much space for people to sit down so it may be better for take-out, but our service was good, the meal was good and the dinner was reasonably priced.

Bought a Massaman curry and some rice on a whim to share for a late dinner. Cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. Friendly polite service (even at 8:45 at night). Highly recommended and we will definitely eat here again!
