My bf took me to Best Of India for my pre birthday dinner out. I have always been aprehensive because it seems quiet and I hate being the only customer in a restaurant. We were the only customers to start off with but gradually another 3 to 4 parties arrived and the place felt livelier. The food was great, typical chutneys and poppadoms, then for starters I had samosas (which were ok but would not order again), then... View all feedback.
What Малко София doesn't like about Best Of India:
I specified an allergy for an ingredient that was not even amongst the one that I would have expected to be part of the dish I ordered. You put that ingredient in my order regardless. What's wrong with you? View all feedback.
I visited The Best Of India recently after not having eaten there for many years, knowing that they used to be very good it was worth a go right? wrong..!! On arrival I noticed that the decor was still the same and look very old fashioned and after ordering I was kind of looking around and I first noticed the wonkey pictures and we were kind of laughing about it. Then I noticed the walls and on many parts, incliding next to our table there were stains on the walls which I guess were no doubt food but it reminded me of an old visit to a hospital where I saw blood up the walls, yuk. There were other bits of damaged decor and add to that no background music the place just looked unloved and uncared for with no attention to detail at all, this could very likely make you pre-judge the food, I didn't pre-judge but it made me concerned. The food...well, the poperdoms and dips were ok ish and the onion bhaji was ok but the main meal was tastless and lacked in spice of any kind, the bombay potatoes were the worst I've ever tasted...we left quite a lot and couldn't wait to get out after paying the bill, if the food was better the cost would have been quite reasonable but it wasn't the food was aweful and I'm not sure I should have paid the full price at all but I couldn't get out quick enough. I hate leaving bad reviews but sometimes people need telling, I'd never go back there again, not a chance, on this we both agreed..!!
A Wednesday evening and I was the only one in. Waiter was really friendly and the food was excellent. Few take away orders came in whilst I was there. Shame it wasn't busy as it really was a very nice meal. I'm sure it's busier at a weekend. I would say not to be put off if it's quiet as the food will make it worthwhile.
Jet lag had us on a different schedule from most so we arrived early for dinner and were the only ones in the restaurant. The waiter was obviously very attentive and we were served quickly. The food was very well presented and most enjoyable. Indian food is on of our favorites and this was up there meeting our high expectations for quality. Will stop in again if we visit here again.
There was 7 of us and the Guy set up a large table for us he was friendly and helpful. Mixed starter was lovely then I had korma which was tasty and creamy. The restaurant was quite and when we arrived the T.V was on and we asked if some music could be put on and the guy gave us the control to choose what we wanted on he also turned the heating up because we felt a bit chilly Would recommend a visit to this place

The service was attentive and pleasant. The food was good value, poppadoms, starters, main courses, rice, nans, and one lassi coming to £30. I would go again!
