Le Gandhi - Toulouse

I love Touolousian food. I love the duck, the sausage, the cassoulet but, when you're visiting/working here for more than a few days you do, eventually, get tired of it and you want something different. So when my local friends suggested dinner and then suggested Indian food, I was more than happy to go. This is a small restaurant with a typical "I am an Indian restaurant" decor on a side street near Jean-Jaures and Blvd de Strasbourg. The food was good,not outstanding, but a good solid Indian meal. I started with the veggie samosas and had the chicken madras and naan for the main. Nothing to complain about. :-) One word of advice, I like spicy....and vindaloo is one of my favourites. However, I've learned to stay away from vindaloos until I know the restaurant and what level of spice they cook with. I've had some, shall we say, unfortunate experiences with the next day's "ring of fire" by blind-ordering vindaloos which turned out to be super, duper, hellfire-level spicy. Good thing....because the madras at Le Gandhi was plenty spicy for me!

Fairly small restaurant serving great Indian food. Located 5 minutes from Hotel Pullman Centre. Staff very responsive, service good.

We started using the "Gandi" quite a few years ago and found the service very good and the quality of the food very authentic. We had some very nice chats with the elderly proprietor - he had relations in Dubai where we lived for many years and it was nice to swop stories. However, the past few visits have been very disappointing. The gentleman in question now seems to out making deliveries and has handed over the operation of the restaurant to (I assume) his sons. They seem to have little interest and certainly no enthusiasm and the service is abysmal. We sat for 30 minutes waiting for a menu and after another 20 minutes without placing our order were in the process of leaving when the owner arrived back and suddenly everyone started working! The only reason I am giving 2 stars is because the food is still quite good but the service really deserves 0 stars nowadays. A sad decline!

Had a good lunch special, not life changing, but good. Fresh, homemade, just quality food. Great for traveling on a budget
