What User doesn't like about The Tarv:
the service was very bad. the waitress avoids any kind when the communication was taken after the order. wait time between starter (which was very good) and main course minutes, although only the seats were taken. the main course came almost cold. disappointing experience. View all feedback.
The food was fantastic, service was fast and professional. I ate there twice during my stay in the Faroes. I made a request for a quiet area as my son has autism and they were very caring and considerate of this. I am vegetarian and the veg options were amazing (hard to find in the Faroes). I am coming back in July and already have a new reservation.
The food was delicious, with options including fish and meat. Unfortunately, the service was inconsistent. It's a shame, as this restaurant has the potential to be excellent.
This restaurant boasts a charming atmosphere, but unfortunately falls short in terms of both the average food quality and abysmal service. Once seated, customers are often neglected, prompting them to seek out the waitstaff for basic needs such as ordering and paying. This lack of attentiveness gives the impression of a fast food joint, except with higher prices. Overall, this establishment is best avoided.
We have been trying a different restaurant each day and on our last day, we decided to try The Tarv. I must say, this was the best restaurant we tried so far. Both the fish and meat menus were excellent. We ordered every appetizer and they were all delicious. The lamb rack was fantastic, especially with the mushroom sauce made with "wood ear" mushrooms. The beef tenderloin was also excellent. I even tried the licorice ice cream, which had a strange taste but was still good. The drinks were great as well.
It was a good sign to see the place almost full; and besides, the menu showed some peculiar choices. I ordered the artichoke soup with Iberico bruschetta. To complete the Spanish selection, pimientos del padrón as starters. The bruschetta had nothing but bread and ham, but in very good amount. It came on top of the soup, that tasted as a mix of artichoke, garlic and chives; I liked it anyway, but I gave to admit I do enjoy garlic. The peppers were great and not hot at all. My husband ordered salmon and got two pieces on a full salad, that included avocado and eamames. The wine selection was wide and with good quality. We liked it so much that we returned for dinner, the next day. This time we had lamb chops, tenderloind and green salad. There are not many options in town, but this is a good one.
