Wright And Proper
3.5 / 5 (68 reviews)

Description

Situated in the charming village of Winkleigh, Wright and Proper offers a quaint setting for coffee and light bites. While some patrons praise the welcoming staff and delicious treats like tea bread and lemon drizzle cake, others lament the quality of the food, suspecting it relies on supermarket products rather than homemade fare. Service experiences vary greatly, with some guests encountering brusque treatment, contrasting with delightful interactions from the owners. Despite its inviting decor and local ambiance, it appears that consistency in food quality and service remains a topic of concern for this cafe.

My other half rather enjoyed this place but I wasn't too impressed. It's not particularly clean and the decor is rather at the rococo end of homely. The food was Ok but as you see from the other reviews it's a chalk and cheese kind of place. The Owner, front of house was abrupt but the locals in there seemed to love him and his gossip! I don't think my soup was tinned though! If it is then it's your assurance of quality. 3 stars because we couldn't agree... LOL...

Having stopped off at Winkleigh on our way to Bideford, one morning, we came upon this delightful little cafe. It was charming, friendly and relaxed with vibrant decor and it seemed to be the hub of the community. On the occasion of our visit there were some interesting items of furniture for sale. Very enjoyable cup of tea and snack.

To be honest, we only popped in to grab a quick coffee and cake, during a visit to Winkleigh for fairly mundane reasons (as we live quite near by). My cappuccino was very nice... and the lemon drizzle cake was splendid! It seemed like a friendly little place with pleasant staff and a good atmosphere. As it was a sunny day we took time to have a wander around the village, realising with some surprise what a very lovely place it is, with lots of pretty thatched cottage and amazing views across to Dartmoor from the churchyard. So, if you're visiting the area yes please do have a stroll around Winkleigh and pop into this cosy cafe while you're there I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

I visited this restaurant with a friend, looking forward to enjoying good coffee and friendly service. However, we were disappointed by the lack of greeting from the staff, who were unfriendly and rude to the point of being offensive. We decided to leave and find another place to go.

The owner is a friendly and talkative individual who enjoys interacting with his customers. The restaurant offers delicious coffee in a charming and cozy atmosphere.
