Monkish Brewing - Torrance
Monkish Brewing
Description
Monkish Brewing blends a lively, family- and dog-friendly courtyard with a wide rotating tap list and sought‑after IPAs, quick ordering, food trucks and a private lot. Many patrons rave about bold, crisp brews and a relaxed atmosphere, though experiences vary: some report rude staff, inconsistent beer quality and confusing rules around canned beers. Plan for crowding on release days and check policies before you go to ensure a pleasant visit.

Extremely racist experience. The staff and management exhibited terrible behavior. Our drinks were taken away without warning. I've never encountered anything like this in my 40 years. What was supposed to be a fun night out with friends turned into a nightmare.
So, the first thing we did was place our food order. After that, we explored what the bar had to offer. I’m a big fan of Hefeweizen, so naturally, I gravitated towards their selection. I decided to try the first one on the list: the 12oz Tape Deck. I really appreciated that they had both indoor and outdoor seating, which created a relaxed atmosphere. The music was at a perfect volume, adding to the overall ambiance. I took a sip while we waited for our food (which came out quickly since we arrived close to closing time). The beer had a great taste with a nice crispness, but what really impressed me were the bold flavors that unfolded on my palate after a few moments. They nailed this brew! I won’t even try to describe it; if you like Hefeweizen, you need to get this! As it turned out, the drinks overshadowed our excitement for the food truck! **DRINKS: 5** — All for the Tape Deck. **SERVICE: 5** — The staff were friendly! **VALUE: 5** — It’s a steal at $6! **PARKING:** Private lot shared with others. **OVERALL: 5** — Hubbers and I are already talking about our next visit. Whether the food truck is there or not, we’ll definitely return at the first opportunity! We might even bring our pup along next time!
Fantastic beer, great atmosphere, and the wings from the food truck were absolutely delicious. I will definitely return!
If you are a New England IPA Hazy fan...you can't go wrong with their Hazy options. I highly recommend the Monk Magic Dynasty Hazy IPA.
Ahh, Monkish. A place many would call IPA Mecca on the west coast, and appropriately so. As a longtime patron dating back to their first year in 2012, they've changed a ton, but it's still one of my favorite breweries in America. I typically come here every week to pickup cans and try what's new on tap. We even took our baby here at one week old. They're super child friendly and pet friendly and have a great outdoor area. Gone are the days of being confined to the tiny, stuffy tasting room. Parking can be a bit tight on can release days, but it has been a few months since I have had to park outside of the lot. The beer tenders are always patient and are great resources in helping you find what you may like. The line can get long, though they always manage to get through it quick without you feeling like you're being rushed. So if you haven't been, put on your favorite beer shirt and run down to enjoy some world class IPAs, Belgian styles, and lagers!
