This place proudly advertises that all their ingredients are organic and GMO-free and their chicken is free-run. Which is fine. But then everything is deep fried! So how can that be healthy for you? The best item for us was the fried brussel sprouts!
The only good thing I can mention about Union Chicken is the quality of customer service from their wait staff. They were very courteous and informative about the menu and specials. As far as food is concerned they have very limited options to begin with. The good part is they use organic chicken but then what's the point when the bird wasn't flavourfull. We ordered Korean BBQ chicken, buttermilk fried chicken, rotisserie sweet potato and fries. Out of all that it was the buttermilk fried chicken that stood out and for the Korean BBQ chicken I had to use their Piri Piri sauce as the chicken lacked flavour. For the price that I paid it was definitely not worth it. With that amount I can get a week's supply of fried chicken and fries from Popeyes and tastier ones too. I hate to say this but I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone or maybe it's just me who is not comfortable paying $100 for chicken and potatoes.
Had brunch here-this venue is located on Sherway Gardens mall. Got seated right away. Ordered half chicken $ 16.00 brussel sprouts 9.00 butter lettuce 9.00 fries 6.00 beans and eggs 14.00 and toffee pudding 9.00 . The high prices are not worth the minuscule portions your get. Nothing stood out in terms of taste, seasoning, presentation and portion. The butter lettuce has 2 pieces of avocado served on a small bowl, not even enough for 1, sprouts were salty and did not like the topping; beans and eggs(hard boiled again was a paltry portion. Chicken was definitely bland and the sauce again tasteless. Lastly, the toffee pudding was touted as freshly baked but she should just have said freshly warmed up as it definitely was not fresh. Swiss Chalet is better taste. Not worth a second try on this chicken.
Union Chicken is a recently opened restaurant located on James Street North in Hamilton. The interior of the restaurant is nice and welcoming. During our visit last night, we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The menu offers a selection of fried and rotisserie chicken dishes, and we opted for the Rotisserie chicken. I had the 'double legs' and my partner had the half chicken. Both dishes were perfectly cooked with a crispy and flavorful skin. They were served with a small container of 'au jus' sauce, which could be poured or used as a dipping sauce for the chicken. The plates also came with delicious cucumber slices and slices of 'white bread', although we didn't enjoy the bread as we typically don't eat that kind. As for sides, we both chose the Cole slaw, which was fresh and tasty. The service was efficient and friendly, and we found the overall meal to be a good value. We definitely plan on returning to Union Chicken in the future.
I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant located in a train station. The food was delicious and the staff was extremely friendly. It's a fantastic spot to grab a bite to eat, whether you're in a rush or not. While the food may not be as flavorful as Swiss Chalet, I would definitely eat here again.
