Was Florine Becker at Tilde a mag?
Very impressed with this place. Tried it out with a colleague for lunch and was very pleased with the food and the service. We had the chips and guacamole and both of us had the lunch special of 2 tacos...Have read reviews about the Bengali fish tacos so I tried it...love it! I had 2 of these and laced them with in house made scotch bonnet pepper sauce and their lime hot sauce...WOW.The service was very good and I wo... View all feedback.

What Bernard Rupnik dislikes about Tilde:
Went here this last Friday for a "Pass the Table" experience. $30 for five unique world style tacos, appetizer and dessert. The value was great - a lot of food. Was all pretty good (albeit there are better taco places in town that I would go too). Service was okay. Waiter didn't spend a lot of time explaining the meal, the sauces on the taco, etc. was expecting a bit more. One of the owners was kind to come over, whi... View all feedback.

Environment was okay - felt like it could have more character. Everything seemed clean. Would want better service if I ever went back.

When this place first opened it was a new favorite spot of ours. Unique and good quality food and good beer and wine options. Over the last year, the food quality has slowly declined. On our last visit, favorite dishes were gone - chicken and chorizo - and replaces with pork or the only chicken option which is breaded and fried. The food we did get on this visit was ok but I told my partner this was our last time. Even the wine on tap which used to be a really cool and good quality feature, tasted off. It is a shame as the owners are lovely and the concept was good but it feels like they just don't care as much anymore.

Living nearby we took the time recently to try out Tilde. It was a quiet Friday night so the ambiance was a little flat. The service was friendly enough although no suggestive selling - we needed to ask for the house favourites, no suggestion of chips and guacamole to get us started while we decided and we had to ask to have our water topped up. The chips and guacamole were fine. The tacos were flavourful - we tried the pork belly, the fish, the chicken and the Korean pork. All in all would return for the tacos.

We went to this restaurant as it had good reviews and we wanted to support a local restaurant. We had margaritas to start and they were just ok - a bit too sweet for us and we prefer frozen rather than ice cubes. The service was ok but our appetizers arrived and we had no cutlery, napkins or side plates. The calamari was really good, not chewy and a little spicy. The Guacamole was average and we enjoyed the chips it came with. We decided on sharing the "Around the World platter" It was very disappointing. The toppings advertised seemed to not be there - mostly a bit of tasteless kale. The Bengali fish although tasty did not have even a mild taste of curry and we couldn't spot the cocunut salsa. The carinatas were not available anymore at 7pm Friday night. The Korean chicken, charred shrimp and meat and potatoes were all flavoured the same and bland. The chorizo tasted ok but again we felt we were missing the pineapple salsa and citrus slaw. All beer is craft brewed and wine by the glass is sold by the ounce from a tap - I didn't mind the wine but others who want wine by the glass may prefer a choice. We were also charged for a glass we didn't get. All in all very disappointing and we would not return.

As fans of this place already, tonight we tried the tasting menu. One of us is vegetarian, but no problem, they were able to do this for two carnivores and adapt it for the vegetarian no problem. For $35 you get eight courses, and they are correct, you won't leave hungry! Everything here is SO SO fresh. The other superb thing about Tilde is the use of spice. They have figured out just the right amount of "hot", and that's not an easy thing to do. Another great thing about Tilde? Their dollar-an-ounce house wines, great beers list, and wonderful cocktails. This is SUCH a great find.
