Terroni Adelaide is housed in a multi-level heritage structure built in 1852, formerly the York County Courthouse. The Enoteca welcomes you with its towering columns, offering a great spot for cocktails. The main dining room features a sunlit atrium, fireplaces on each end, and private rooms all serviced by an open kitchen where traditional Italian fare is prepared by our chefs. In the summer, the secret garden patio opens for al fresco dining in the heart of the city. Head down to the Cantina Wine Cellar where the original courthouse cells now store our Italian wine. The second floor houses the grand Sala da Pranzo and Bar delle Carceri, named after the cells below. Il Covo degli Artisti, our third-floor space, is a cosy lounge once home to The Arts and Letters Club where Canadian landscape painters “The Group of Seven” ate and drank in 1909. Hello, I ate in the terroni on adelaide st toronto on Tuesday 25th october. it is a very beautiful ambiente. I asked the dame whether the special of the day — beef ravioli, was good. she said it was excellent. So I ordered the beef ravioli....When it arrived, it was 6 ravioli, warm, on a small dish, without garnishing or any side. the bark in each ravioli was perhaps a teespoon. the taste was “love”, we say. it was almost tasteless. probably because it was just some flour and water that covered a tiny part of the meat. at a price of $24, I paid $4 for each ravioli. I have starved. I have an additional crust brot, but no olive oil more than the one tablespoon in a small ceramic dish. I'm not a fat guy or a big eater, but after that I had to stop eating. I noticed that the place was full of people, so obviously no one else shares my feeling of value and quality. but I would never go back. I wish terroni all good on the world, but I would be a little concerned that sometime people could switch to the spaghetti factory.
Have reserved 6 to celebrate the engagement of my daughter. it was very disappointed that we had told them that we had a special occasion, as we were placed on the second level in a huge space. we sat in the back corner of the room. right next to the washing rooms, the computer and the kitchen. terrible ambiente for what I had hoped to be an unforgettable night and a beautiful firm for my daughter and her engaged. the main floor looked more cheerful. it was so dark that I could not read the menu and the menu printing was very small. I noticed that one of the other tables had tee light candles, so the waiter asked if he could bring candles to light our table. we got one, so I had to use my handylight to read the menu. No one else seemed to complain about their meal, but I ordered a pasta dish that came cold. I sent it back and all the others were almost finished eating their evening when I got back my meal, which happened very bland and tasteless and not rewarding eating. my only positive comment is that the waiter was very pleasant and did a good job.
We took my cousin and his wife daughter yesterday for lunch in terroni because they have a gluten-free menu and it looked like a great place. our server was fabulous and the menu was pretty good. I chose the vegetarian option of several grilled...veggies served on a large charcuterie board, there are a large number of points in relation to the presentation. the taste was not there. no spice, dressing, sauce, dip. only simple grilled vegetables. Apart from that, the remaining meal times were wonderful, like the ambiente in this restaurant. I would definitely return, but would skip the veggie option.
We recently dined at Terroni and have very mixed feelings about the experience. Let me start by saying this: the food was phenomenal. My wife is from Italy, and even she was blown away — which is saying a lot. Everything we ordered, from the Carpaccio di Manzo to the Spaghetti al Limone and Caprese di Bufala, was bursting with fresh, authentic flavour. The ingredients were top-notch, and the execution was flawless. Easily a 10/10 on the culinary front. Now, the not-so-great part: the seating arrangement was extremely tight. We were just a couple out for dinner, but the tables were packed so closely together that I literally had to turn sideways and apologize to other guests just to get into my seat. There was absolutely no sense of privacy or intimacy — we could hear every breath and word from the couples next to us, and they could probably hear ours. It felt more like communal dining than a romantic evening out. To make matters worse, the temperature inside the restaurant was uncomfortably hot and humid. Within 10 minutes, I was ready to leave, and probably would have if not for my wife convincing me to stay. One other thing that caught my attention — while the restaurant proudly emphasizes its authentic Italian identity, I couldn't help but notice that everyone I saw working in the kitchen appeared to be South Asian. This isn’t a complaint, but more of a curiosity given the branding; the food clearly speaks for itself, regardless of who's behind the scenes. In short: come here for the food, without hesitation. But don’t come expecting a cozy, private, or relaxing dining environment — especially if you're hoping for a quiet dinner for two. Would we return? For takeout or a quieter location, absolutely. I love that the pizze comes out 'uncut ' so that you can cut it however you want. The cacio e pepe had the right amount of black pepper and the pasta was cooked to perfection. The complementary bread was good but the olive oil for dipping was sort of bitter, very off-putting. However, the food comes out in about 5-7 minutes after your waiter puts the order into his handheld computer. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $70–80 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
