Slab Burger - Toronto
Slab Burger
Description
At this 3-star restaurant, diners can expect a satisfying yet nuanced experience. The burgers, particularly the smash-cooked variety, are noted for their juicy flavor and less greasy texture. While the double patty option may leave some hungry, the generous portions and value—like a $4 combo that includes a sizable fries and drink—are commendable. The fries are appreciated for their homemade quality, unlike many fast-food counterparts. With excellent, fresh food and friendly service, this spot stands out. While it may not fully live up to its lofty marketing claims, patrons agree it's a solid choice for burger enthusiasts.

The Good • Quick service — food came out pretty fast • Decent vegetarian options — 3 vegetarian burgers available • Nice topping selection — lots to choose from • Free guac! – appreciated that The Meh • Fries served in a coffee cup • Fries were uneven — decent ones on top, tiny scraps at the bottom • Needed more salt — only bottom fries had some The Bad • Dusty environment — noticeably unclean, confirmed by other customers • Dirty tables — none were wiped, no napkins in bag or at condiment station • One chair table near the door — awkward, not inviting • Paint walls need touch-ups — not well-maintained • No caramelized onions — asked, didn’t receive • Burger quality • Packed with iceberg lettuce (white core, unevenly chopped) • Tomato had the core — major pet peeve • Felt like they didn’t care about what they were serving Overall • Filled the hunger gap, but execution was disappointing • Wouldn’t go back — lack of care and cleanliness was hard to ignore Service: Dine in Price per person: $10–20 Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 1 Recommended dishes: Veggie Burger
Great hole in the wall type spot with tasty burgers. Food: 5 Service: 5 Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: CA$10–20
Overpriced. Ordered a 14inch pizza and medium poutine. The pizza was fine but that medium poutine for 8 bucks just does not make sense. The box of fries was basically a small McDonalds poutine for twice the price. It’s just insulting to be so cheap with the customer. But this is downtown so I guess this par for the course. Will take my business elsewhere. Service: Delivery Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30 Food: 2
The $4 combo includes a small order of fries, which is actually quite generous—I couldn’t finish them! The fries appear to be single-fried, giving them a more homemade quality compared to the double-fried fries you’d find at places like McDonald's. It also comes with a drink.
