We were invited here by a Portuguese friend of ours. We were so impressed with the food! I have to say, it was one of THE tastiest steaks i have ever tried. Absolutely superb.Apart from the food being amazing, we we're absolutely stunned at how reasonable the prices are - I had to ask if the prices for the wine were correct, as it was so so cheap! I paid just $5.25 for 1/4 liter of House Red - and it was excellent.I... View all feedback.

This restaurant used to be my go-to spot for all of my business meetings. However, new owners took over last year and the quality has significantly decreased. I recently ordered a steak and fries and requested ketchup. Instead of receiving a bottle like the previous owners would provide, I was given a small cup and charged $3.00 for it. This level of price gouging was unacceptable to me and I will not be returning. I... View all feedback.
The food was fantastic and the service was outstanding. Leif was an attentive and knowledgeable server. Even though the restaurant was busy and I was dining alone, he provided me with first-class service. I will definitely be returning.

Went there with my mom for dinner and had an overall great experience. It was great to find a Francesinha in Toronto and it was pretty good. It was missing linguica and fresh sausage (salsinha fresca) to be authentic but it has a lot of potential. The staff is very good and the restaurant looks great. I recommend Porta Nova and I will return to have a Francesinha again.
You don 't have to be Portuguese to love this restaurant; you just want delicious tastes, prepared with care, in a very comfortable atmosphere. Of course it would be even better with thoughtful, friendly and knowledgeable service and it was! The cost well it was significantly less than the high prices at some name steakhouse restaurants in Toronto and every bit as good in terms of quality and size. Let 's cut to the chase other feelings will follow the Cowboy Steak bone in rib eye on hot stone was done medium to perfection. With savoury juices running from reach cut we ate perfectly seasoned medium strength slices of hot tender steak. The hot stone kept the steak nicely warmed until the last piece and even enabled us to cook the rare section closest to the delicious bone to perfect medium. The ample serving of crispy perfectly seasoned fries got a 10 rating. The farro in the large Mediterranean salad added a tasty texture and is ample for 2. Bread fresh , fluffy inside with a crunchy crust real Portuguese. Now to the deserts we did not really want or need. Actually so flavourful: chocolate mousse smooth , very very chocolate and bowl licking addictive fried ice cream in a light sugar donut perfectly fried with no taste of oil all melted together in your. mouth . Overall an excellent experience enhanced by Lief our waiter and good quality wine at really lower end pricing. With a little more admin experience we expect that the bill pricing will be correct noticed afterward that the 30 menu price for steak a terrific bargain was 33 on the bill and the delicious demi jus menu 2.00 was charged at 5.00 . Forgiven !
A first visit for my friend and I and it won't be the last. We had cod bacalhau, squid and the chorizo. All were presented and cooked beautifully and made perfect sharing plates. The service was great and all the staff are attentive and friendly. Leif was charming and made our first visit a most enjoyable one!
