Nestled within the bustling Bayview Village Mall, a new restaurant offers a diverse culinary adventure that has garnered mixed reviews from diners. While some praised the ample portions and delightful flavors—highlighting standout dishes like tender lamb leg bao and flavorful beef massaman curry—others expressed disappointment over inconsistencies in service, spice levels, and drink offerings. The atmosphere, largely quiet after mall hours, enhances the dining experience despite some initial hiccups. What Anonym dislikes about PŌpa:
I had a reservation for 7:30 PM, and right away we were informed that the restaurant closes at 9. They didn't ask us for vaccination status. Our server wore their mask under their nose. We received our salad before our drinks. The salad was quite spicy compared to the first time I had it, but still tasty. The bao rolls were delicious, but I couldn't handle the spice this time. As for the drinks, everything was great! We started with a beer for my partner and a Popa Surprise for me (they didn’t skimp on the hard liquor in my mixed drink). We ordered the lamb leg bao (which comes with two bao). I’m not usually a lamb fan, but the description was too tempting to pass up. You could tell the meat was marinated for 48 hours because it was incredibly tender. For our main courses, we had the prawn kebab and the beef massaman curry, which was served with coconut jasmine rice. The beef was so tender that it could be pulled apart with a fork—no knife needed! It was delicious in the flavorful curry sauce, and when combined with the rice, it was pure bliss. For dessert, we enjoyed dark chocolate-filled samosas with ice cream, which was the perfect way to conclude the meal—11/10! This was my first experience with Burmese food, and I would happily return in an instant. I highly recommend this wonderful addition to the Bayview Village casual dining scene!

We visited for lunch on a Saturday afternoon, and overall, we had a nice experience. The dishes on the summerlicious menu were enjoyable, and the baos were particularly fantastic. However, the dessert, which was a semolina cake, turned out to be quite dry. Despite being a large group, we found the service lacking, even though the restaurant was empty at the time. The curry was quite mild, and the Hakka noodles needed some salt, which we had to add ourselves. On the positive side, the ambience was pleasant. All in all, it was a good experience.
