After the Katy Perry concert, my brother and I decided to stop by Pocha 1989 for a late-night meal. We were looking for somewhere nearby, especially since the food prices at the arena were quite steep. Pocha 1989 ticked all the boxes: it was open late, offered large portions, and had delicious food! While the service was a bit slow, the overall experience was excellent. Price per person: $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5. Don't miss out on their fantastic menu!
The food was delicious, but the shareable portions were quite small. Additionally, the selection of alcoholic beverages was limited, and two of the drinks we wanted were unavailable. For a group of four, I recommend ordering three different shareable plates and possibly two small appetizers due to the small portion sizes. The patio in front, facing Church St, is lovely, and I’d suggest dining outside if the temperature is above 25°C for a great vibe. Price per person: $70–80. Food: 4, Service: 3, Atmosphere: 3.
The food at Pocha 1989 is fantastic! I tried the rose tteokbokki and fried chicken, both of which were delicious. However, the A/C was not functioning during my visit, making it uncomfortable, especially in the summer. We found ourselves feeling quite exhausted throughout dinner and had to wash our faces to feel more refreshed. Visiting by public transport is a better option. Price per person: $20–30 Food: 4, Service: 3, Atmosphere: 3. Recommended dishes: Sweet Soy Fried Chicken, Spicy Rose Creamy Rice Cake.
