The original location boasts the best pizza in town with perfect dough and fresh ingredients, though olives could be improved. In Kensington Market, this restaurant provides good value with fresh salads and tasty pizza specials, alongside accommodating service. The cozy ambience and delicious food make for a great dining experience, perfect for those looking for authentic Italian cuisine. Don't miss out on the great pizza selection and welcoming atmosphere of Pizzeria Via Mercanti.
The perfect dough and a very friendly and efficient service, in this large restaurant (the original, first of 4) and probably best pizza in town. Also the tomato sauce was great, as it was the mozzarella, the anchovies, the artichokes and mushrooms on the 4 stagioni. If you want to find an opportunity for improvement it would be in the olives, that felt too smoked and probably out of a can. Both the napoletana pizza (we tried one as proposed without mozzarella and another with mozzarella) and the 4 stagioni were spectacular. The fried mozzarella morsel as appetizer also quite good. Bravissimi!
Pizzeria Via Mercanti is a nice option for pizza and salad in Kensington Market. On my visit I had a $10 pizza and salad special. The salad was fresh and tasty, and the pizza was small, yet good. I found the pizza a bit bland, yet their flavourful chilli oil did the trick. If you are hungry, I recommend skipping the lunch special and going with the full-size pizza.Service is very good. One thing that is particularly nice here is that they have a decent amount of seating. If you are a guest to Kensington Market, it can be a challenge to find a restaurant that is both good and accommodating to groups of eat-in patrons. Via Mercanti manages to deliver on both counts.
The place is nice and spartan, so much confusion, it is impossible to talk to the person you have in front, the pizza is discreet but the price really exaggerated. Better a nice steak. not recommended, a margherita 13 dollars, a slice of cake 12 dollars, seems absolutely excessive.
Very central and really very good food, both pasta and pizzas. an affordable price. Good service always though we were sometimes here and no one was attending us until I was a while. in summer the terrace is great.
My wife and I were looking for a good pizza place on our visit to Toronto and only had to wander a few blocks north to this gem. Great selection of personal pizzas with combinations you won't see in typical places. So good we actually came back the next night; it was that good. I've seen a lot of comments about the service; we just saw it as service as you'd see in a restaurant in Europe. Sit, enjoy your food, and don't look to get out of here as fast as possible. Great pizzas with great atmosphere!
