The food was really clever and tasted great. I hadn't heard much about the place and was impressed. The service was great and the menu was very unique. The pot stickers were excellent as well as the jerked chicken. Recommended View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Patois:
Food was Ok, but, nothing special. Most Chinese food restaurants have better Chinese food and most Jamaican food restaurants have better Jamaican food. Food was expensive for what you get. Doubtful that I'll return or recommend. View all feedback.
Patois has become a Toronto institution, I moved to the city a few years ago and even before living here I heard nothing but great things about this restaurant. We ordered the Jamaican Oxtail and it was to die for, by far the best I’ve ever had. We also ordered the patty crust nachos supreme which they first told us was sold out. Keep in mind our visit was on a Sunday at 6pm, we then chose the shrimp toast which was also sold out. The waitress can back a few minutes later advising us that the sister restaurant next door had the nachos so we ended up getting them. They were not great, barely supreme with a runny cheese sauce and some diced tomatoes. The service was slow and it took forever to get our bill. I’ll give it a second chance because they do have an interesting menu and I want to try other things. Maybe bad luck. Enjoy!
M’y first experience for brunch at Patois. I’m not usually a brunch person but this brunch was the most insane thing I’ve had in a super long time. We ordered the thé shhhh-brunch. We were three and it was just a bit too much but perfect for four. The short ribs and the French toast I am lost for words, they were spectacular. I’m shook and can’t wait to be back.
I visited this restaurant last week for my birthday and the food was amazing! We tried the cheesy J butter potatoes, Izakaya shrimp pasta, Michiba crispy Brussels sprouts, and Jamaican oxtail. My favorite dish was the potatoes! While the prices may seem high at first, the generous portions make it worth it. I appreciate the family-style dining as I enjoy trying a variety of dishes, and you definitely get a good amount of food here. I will definitely be returning in the future!
We ordered the Chinese Pineapple Burger Bun, Jamaican Oxtail, a patty, and the Cheesy J Butter Potatoes. We absolutely loved the flavors of the oxtail and rice, and the potato dish from the seasonal/special menu was superb with a delicious cheese sauce poured over it. The pineapple bun burger was an interesting concept and worth trying if you enjoy pineapple buns, but it wasn't enough to make me want to order it again. I highly recommend the sweet heatwave drink if you enjoy spicy beverages!
I had dinner at this restaurant last night and I can't get enough of this place! The service was excellent, with a very nice waiter who made great food recommendations. The music was great all night, although it did get quite loud when the restaurant filled up, which was expected. The food was amazing! My friend and I started with the brussels sprouts and then shared the fried chicken, pork belly yakisoba, and cookie butter french toast for dessert. The fried chicken was so good that I had to order extra to take home for my husband! Everything we ate was delicious. Definitely worth returning to!
