This place is a gem. The level of service rivals that of a fine dining restaurant, yet it serves breakfast. I visited for a business meeting and needed a spot with delicious food—no deep-fried, bulk-style offerings here. The host took a few moments to present the specials, providing a genuine introduction and explanation. The food was excellent, and I appreciated that the portions were not oversized. What Barna Gulyás dislikes about Murgatroid:
I came here for brunch on a Saturday. the place was not too busy. however, the man attending to us was overall abrupt and somewhat rude. i believe he was also acting as cashier and waiter. regardless, he clearly did not enjoy his job. the food was dry....driest, most burnt potatoes i've ever had. i suck at cooking and my friends made fun of the fact that my food tastes better. the eggs murgatroid was relatively taste... Interesting food, great staff in this hidey-hole restaurant. They were also able to accommodate special requests. Parking is a premium, but if you are in the neighborhood I definitely recommend this.
Very tasty local food. The owner/ chef takes great care preparing all of the dishes. They serve numerous house made relishes including a ghost pepper relish with my husband's meal. My brisket sandwich was excellent. They also have a few take away food items. Yum!
Fabulous fish and chips. Faultless! Staff could do with being a bit more cheerful. Good choice of menu including non fish items.
I believe the title speaks for itself. The Brisket and Grits is fantastic, and you definitely can’t miss the Eggs Murgatroid. Just a heads-up: the ghost pepper hot sauce is extremely spicy!
I enjoyed an excellent lunch here mid-week. Rustic simple cozy decor and a very affable owner/chef greeted me. I had the house specialty The Murgatroid Sandwich (crispy roasted chicken on a delicious bun with goat gouda and alfalfa sprouts) and a bowl of delicious tomato soup. The brunch items looked amazing and made me want to return very soon which I shall do as soon as I am able!
