What Verla Feest dislikes about Matagali Restaurant:
First off the location is quirky, but if it was cleaned, and they put lights and air con on, it would be a lot better! We had bug bites just sitting there, very authentic I guess :)Food was average at best, we had for different dishes, they were all hot and presented well, but really nothing special. Don't think I'd go back to this one, sorry. View all feedback.

We went to Matagali to try their Winterlicious menu. Things didn't start well when the server couldn't understand that she had given us the dinner menu, not the lunch menu. Her English was poor but she was friendly. I got the impression she was family helping out. The other server was very efficient. It's not a luxury spot by any means but it's handy for hotels, universities, hospitals and offices in the area. The food was very tasty and very filling. My chana masala was very large. The salad was very fresh, and the mango ice cream was generous with chunks of mango on top. I shall go back for sure.

We had dinner here with our granddaughter. Two lamb dishes (rogan josh and massala) and chicken tandoori. Accompanied by nan and basmati rice. Small restaurant but welcoming.

This place has delicious food! And good portion sizes (I even took some to go and had it for lunch the next day). I was the only person in the restaurant though which was sad (it was about 8pm on a weeknight which might explain it though). The server and cooks go out of their way to make sure you have a good experience. They were very helpful, even making a half order of rice (and only charging half an order) because I was eating alone. Prices are on par with what you would expect for an Indian restaurant.

I really enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and exceptional service. I started with the Finger Paneer as an appetizer. It was delicious and full of flavor. For the mains, I had the Palak Paneer and Yellow Curry Chicken, both of which were flavorful and absolutely delicious. I also ordered a side of rice, naan bread, and a salad, which all complemented the meal perfectly. Most importantly, the service was outstanding. The owner personally ensured we were well taken care of and was incredibly kind and friendly. Honestly, it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had!
