Maison Sous - Toronto
Maison Sous
Description
Maison Selby presents a blend of delightful culinary offerings and mixed service experiences. The French wobble soup garners acclaim for its rich broth and generous gruyère. While many dishes, including the steak frites and coquille St-Jacques, impress with robust flavors, some patrons note inconsistencies in portion sizes and layout that hinder comfort. The ambiance is lively but can be overwhelming with loud music, which detracts from intimate conversations. Although some service aspects fall short, attentive staff and accommodating hosts help redeem the overall experience. Whether for a special occasion or casual dining, Maison Selby presents a dining adventure worth exploring.

We start with the good, the French wobbles soup was amazing. beautiful broth and heavy on the gruyère. the service was really missing. the waiter could not tell me what bark meat was used for the tartar. I still order the beeftar, it was okay. the big piece of the sardels and the baby dill pickles should have been torn up and mixed. the juniper egg holk was nice for the presentation, but was too tiny. the cocktails are good, but nothing special. the ambiente was loud the biggest hits of the 80s. Nevertheless, you could talk about it, and they're tight and easy to hear the conversations of your neighbour.
Late post review of one of the better French restaurants in the city. great service and intimate ambiente in an old hearthouse each court was amazing, but love the foie gras, escargots, truffle tagliatelle and bark short riboverall 9/10
Came to the family dinner. as suggested under the name, maison selby is a house that has been converted into a restaurant. each room is individually furnished and has a beautiful outside terrace. make them ready to spend the food and drinks are pricy, but in harmony with what they would expect from a posh restaurant in the inner city of toronto. the portions are not the largest, but each dish was tasteful and used high quality ingredients. I would highly recommend to get the whispers and riders as their escape, the part is great and the dish is very delicious! I have to take some points away because of the service. the front hostess and our waiters were amazing. they were friendly, attentive and accommodating. we found some workers who were somewhat unprofessional and were especially cold. that is the kind of restaurant that I would not like to go in a past.
Without question, this is one of the best speakeasies in Toronto. Price per person: CAD 60–70. Food: 5/5. Service: 5/5. Atmosphere: 5/5.
