I have ordered chicken chettinadu biryani from this restaurant on July 27th 2023 and it was the worst biryani I had in Canada. I saw the reviews and believed that it would be good but it was really badUpdating review: owner has reached out to me and asked me to try second time by ordering again. I have tasted the biryani second time and it was really good this time and also semya payasam provided as free of charge. I... View all feedback.
What Orpha Upton doesn't like about Madras Masala:
Visited on Sunday, June 3 for dinner. All the food minus the dosa tasted excellent, service was mediocre. That being said, the food was tasty enough and pretty authentic so we thought we’d definitely come back. The cheese in the dosa just didn’t taste right so we avoided that dish and didn’t get through more than half of it. This place has become our go to place for south Indian food near downtown. The food is excellent and quite authentic. I loved their chicken and mutton dosas. The service is good and prompt.
Thoroughly enjoyed their ghee roast masala dosa and the idli vada. Their sambhar is out of this world. Just miss having filter coffee here. That could be a great addition to the selection versus the coffee they serve right now.Ambience is decent and service is quick.
An amazing south Indian right walking from Christie Station. It has amazing Idli, Vadas and Rasam. The dosa were alright not that bad bht good in taste. Coffee was amazing. Overall great experience. Service was a bit slow but enjoyed the food.<br/ <br/ Food 4/5<br/ Staff 3/5<br/ Ambience 4/5
This is one of the few places that serves distinctly flavorful food. Veg biryani in coconut milk, hakka chinese fried rice, chettinad curry all have an original taste. In most Indian restaurants, there's a common sauce/ paste binding all the recipes. This place is quite decent, affordable, but there's no fancy lighting and furniture. Food is really worth the travel.
Thirst for pipping hot idli ended here. Small compact place with good South Indian food. Not very expensive and very accessible too as it's near to TTC Christie. We tried Idli , Mysore masala , butter milk and coffee. All was good in taste and enjoyed a bite.
