A forest to table restaurant that caters to both carnivores and vegetarians, Loka offers unique and creative Canadian cuisine curated based on seasonal and daily available items. Known for its adventurous shell creations, the food is small but satisfying. The chef's specialty of Seared Nduja sausage with smoked goat yogurt is not to be missed. The tasting menu is recommended for variety, though some find the portions too small and overpriced. The atmosphere and service are top-notch, making it a great dining experience overall. Reservations are recommended to avoid sitting near noisy equipment. Overall, Loka is a hidden gem with fantastic food that leaves diners wanting to come back for more.
Amazing place, the food is great, lots of flavor in one plate with high quality. But the best thing is the service, they ask me when booking about intolerance/special needs & they prepare a special dish because their dessert in the menu was not fitting my diet ! the waiter was amazing: helpful and dedicated. I truly recommend this place, the atmosphere of the place is also very cool and they have a very nice food philosophy
We chose to dine at this restaurant because we were unable to secure a reservation for Saturday evening at other establishments and they had availability. From the moment we arrived, we found the restaurant to be very intriguing. The cozy space was lovely, and we enjoyed sitting by the window overlooking Queen Street, where we could watch the bustling activity outside. The wait staff was incredibly attentive and impressively knowledgeable about the dishes on the menu. They informed us that the chef encourages them to taste all the dishes, which we found to be a brilliant practice. The menus, one vegetarian and one featuring meat dishes, were constantly changing based on local availability. We sampled a variety of items from both menus and found everything to be delicious, interesting, and expertly prepared. At one point, we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary beet salad that we enjoyed so much we asked for a full portion, which the chef graciously provided despite it not being listed on the menu. The overall cost of our meal was reasonable, although we did find the prices for wine to be a bit steep. Our dining experience was outstanding, and we are eagerly looking forward to returning in the future.
We had the $100 taste of the menu last night. It truly was a great experience! Most of the plates were small and we ate these incredible creations for a good 2 hours without getting full. The food was so creative, we sometimes didn't know what we were eating - like crunching dehydrated sourkraut. I think the head chef is part mad scientist / part chef. It's hard to describe food except to say it as varied and delicious. I highly recommend the taste of the menu. There's not a big wine selection but what they have is good.
I had a fantastic experience dining at this restaurant. The Canadian cuisine is both unique and creative. The tasting menu was amazing, with small portions that were surprisingly filling. My companion and I shared a tasting menu for two, and it was plenty of food. The service was top-notch. I will definitely return, especially since the menu changes frequently.
The innovative shell dishes at this restaurant were adventurous, but the portions were small. We found the prices to be very high for what we received, and two out of the four of us were also disappointed with the taste. It wasn't exactly the experience we had hoped for after paying $150.
