first time here, a small take out place, fries done right and wrapped in newspaper old English style. Add your salt, vinegar, and ketchup before they wrap this generous order up. I can't eat fish but the fries were done right give it a try. View all feedback.
What Suzanne Gulgowski doesn't like about Harbord Fish & Chips:
Visited Harbord Fish and Chips on Monday May 13th for lunch. New ownership failed to live up to the standard established by the previous and, formerly, the original owners. Undercooked fish and boring chips were in edible. It's a shame the new owners didn't work...with the former owners and learn how to cook to the standard that made this place a landmark. For 58 $ you could have dinner for 4. The fish and chips was excellent. We truly liked that place. It is delicious place
I've been going to get a Halibut Fish N' Chip dinner, for years. The couple that owns it are friendly and cook your meal right in front of you, one battering and cooking the fish, the other frying the chips. It's awesome. If it's a...More
We were visiting family in the area and wanted a local restaurant for lunch. We had walked by this place a few times during the week and thought we might give it a try.We decided to split a 2 piece basked of Halibut between the three of us. The staff split the fries into three basket for us and we divided the fish ourselves. It was great. Two really decent sized pieces of fresh tasting fish, cooked perfectly in a batter that crisped up without absorbing too much oil. Dining on the patio on a weatherbeaten picnic table just seemed to add to the experience. The meal reminded me of a fish and chip dinner we had at "By the Beach" restaurant in Portugal Bay Newfoundland (not reviewed.) You would expect good fish and chips in Newfoundland but not necessarily in Harbord Village. If I lived in Toronto I would go back.
On a beautiful, perfectly temperatured day of exploring and discoveries, my husband and I strapped on our Ascis and Reeboks and straddled along College St to the Civil Servants ' fortresses Bay St past the luxury shops and the cultural establishments on Bloor St into the students infested eclectic Harbord St. There, in the midst, amongst cafes, bistros, pubs, wine bars, laudromat.......stood a tiny 'baby blue' house - Harbord Fish
Best, freshest, most delicious fish and chips I've ever had and that's including when I lived in London, England. Cannot recommend enough. The batter is something special, the fries are perfect and the prices are fair.
