Fushimi - Toronto
Fushimi
Description
Fushimi offers an all-you-can-eat option with excellent food and quick service. The dinner menu is under $30 and includes a variety of delicious dishes. The ordering system, though similar to Spring Sushi, includes sashimi. While some customers have noted a decline in quality and customer service over the years, others praise the fresh and tasty food options. The convenient location near the TTC subway station makes it easily accessible. With a mix of positive and negative reviews, Fushimi seems to be a hit or miss choice for Japanese cuisine enthusiasts.

This review is for several meals in April 2022. I tried several dishes and thought they were all good. The lunch Combo (like a Bentobox) really impressed me. The Lachs-Teriyaki combo was very attractive, and the prices were reasonable (although... be aware that all restaurant prices in Toronto increased significantly this year). The fried rice was also very good. I didn't dive because of COVID risks.
We requested a table for 8 people but had to request an additional table to accommodate a total of 10. Regrettably, two people were unable to make it. Then we were asked to move to a different table to make room for more guests, even though the tables we were moved to were already occupied by only 2 people each. We were disappointed with this experience and felt disrespected.
Accessing the restaurant is very convenient with the TTC (Wellesley subway station). The food is excellent and the "all-you-can-eat" option is definitely worth it. The ordering system is similar to Spring Sushi. In contrast to Spring Sushi, sashimi is included in the all-you-can-eat menu. While we found a great spot to enjoy Japanese cuisine, the service is lacking.
My friends and I have eaten at Fushimi a few dozen times over the last several years. This past year I have noticed a decline in not only in customer service but more so in the quality of the food I ordered. The salmon and...tuna rolls were comprised of smaller pieces put together which made the rolls very chewy and unpleasant to eat. My salmon roll in particular was comprised of 90% fat. Needless to say I could not swallow it but had to hide it in my napkin. So we must say goodbye to Fushimi. I hope Fushimi makes the necessary improvements required to stay in business. For now my friends and I will venture to other establishments where our business is appreciated and client retention is at the forefront.
One of the worst sushi meals we ever had in Toronto decided to try something new, made a big mistake. Salad tasted as if it were a day old, coconut shrimps were only shrimps from m n m nm nistladen, a creepy yellow sauce...with them. Tartare had no lemon, sushi was bland and tasteless, wasting money, could have better rated Sushi for cheaper. The worst stomach is mad.
