Was Anonym at Destingo a mag?
Dropped by here for brunch on the first very sunny April afternoon. Sat at the bar and had some drinks while waiting for a table outside which was quick enough considering how busy it was.Got a wonderful seat out in the sun which was perfect for a few drinks and a bit of people watching on Queen Street. The food, cocktails and service we enjoyed were excellent and overall it was great value for money. Wouldn't hesita... View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about Destingo:
Nice place to go for lunch. Fish was tasty but ever so slightly over cooked. Salad and chicken panini were great. Great patio , friendly service , reasonably priced. I'd go back but nothing to rave about. View all feedback.
We dined here as a party of six for Summerlicious in July. We originally wanted to sit on the patio but it had rained all day that day so the patio was closed. Our server approached our table and told us the soup of the day, he didn't state his name and was not particularly friendly. When it was time to order drinks, we decided to get two bottles of wine - one red and one white. We chose a white and our server said that they didn't have that one anymore, so we chose another, they didn't have that one either. When ordering the red, we requested the Chianti and the server asked which one but we had only seen one on the menu so he stated that there were two and we should get the $32 one, so we agreed. He came back to the table and said that the wine was actually $39 and it was a Malbec. So much confusion and a little disappointing. Once the wine situation was sorted out, it was time to order our food. We asked the server how the summer salad was and he said it was good, along with the calamari but to not get the quinoa salad because "it wasn't good". I found this to be unprofessional as half of our table hadn't ordered their appetizers yet and hearing this would completely turn people away from it, based on the servers opinion. Most of us got the grilled calamari to start which I do not recommend. It had a great texture but was completely tasteless. We had to ask for lemons on the side and even that didn't help much. Most of us ordered the veal and some ordered the agnolotti for the main dishes - both were tasty, but the portions were very, very small. I'm not sure if the portions were made smaller due to ordering off of a Summerlicious menu but it was disappointing. The desserts were all good between the macaroons, mango mousse and tiramisu. Throughout the night, our server checked up on us once and was often standing near the kitchen texting on his phone. He seemed uninterested and again, I find it a little unprofessional to be standing in plain view texting on your phone during a shift. I found the menu prices to be high and would not have visited if it weren't for the Summerlicious prix fixe menu. Although the main courses were tasty, it was an average experience and I would not return based on our service, the small portions, and the unusually high regular menu prices.
Stopped in for lunch randomly as the other restaurant we wanted to go to was closed. Service was average, considering there were maybe 3 tables of people outside and we were the only ones inside, it took awhile to get served. I ordered a drink which also seemed to take longer than it should have. My husband and I each got a sandwich and side. I wanted to get the shrimp burger, but told they were out after I had already ordered. I ordered the Rustico with a side of fries and my husband ordered the Vitello Parmesan with a side of greens. My sandwich wasn't anything special, lettuce, tomato, chicken and sauce. The fries were probably the best part! His was the same, breaded veal, cheese a bit of sauce on a bun and the greens with just greens with olive oil. Including one drink, we paid about $50 for lunch which to me is a lot for 2 average sandwiches. The trays they serve the meals on are cool but make me wonder how clean they actually are with all the divots in them. I had been looking forward to a great lunch at another restaurant and this place to me was average and overpriced.
My friends, who are vegetarians, brought me to this restaurant and I saw how happy they were to finally find a place with better options than just sad cucumber rolls.
