Description

Welcome to Dear Grain, your premier destination for all things sourdough in Toronto! Nestled on the vibrant Ossington strip, our restaurant is more than just a bakery; it’s a haven for sourdough enthusiasts and newcomers alike. We pride ourselves on our commitment to high hydration, creating a beautifully open crumb texture and a crust that is as thin as it is crisp. Our bread isn’t just delicious; it’s also crafted with care through a slow fermentation process. This method allows the natural goodness of our ingredients to shine, making our sourdough easier to digest. We use heirloom grains that not only enhance the nutrition of our loaves but also impart richer flavors with each bite. At our standalone shop, you’ll find freshly baked sourdough alongside a seasonal menu of tantalizing pastries, specialty coffee, and ready-to-eat sandwiches, all thoughtfully paired with gourmet foods that elevate your sourdough experience. Our goal? To help you fall in love with sourdough bread all over again. If you’re ready to embark on your own sourdough journey, don’t forget to pick up a jar of our Sourdough Starter and download our handy guide filled with tips on how to nurture your starter and make it thrive. I don’t usually write reviews, but I was quite taken aback by the service at Dear Grain. The shop itself is lovely, and the food and baked goods are truly delicious. However, the service leaves much to be desired. One staff member was preoccupied with cleaning and organizing, while another focused on the panini press. The staff member who was supposed to assist customers seemed to prioritize their phone over our needs, leaving me and another customer waiting as they were busy texting. If it were a quieter moment or during a break, that would be understandable, but it’s disheartening to see staff more engaged with their phones than with their customers.
