Contra - Toronto
Contra
Description
Contra Cafe oozes charm with its quaint Shaw St. location and bustling patio. Although prices are a bit high, the cafe is clean with cozy seating options. The butter and chocolate croissants are delightful, and the coffee is generally good. Unfortunately, the cappuccino with oat milk fell short. One customer experienced disrespectful treatment regarding a service dog, while another felt the staff were rigid and unaccommodating. Despite some negative experiences, loyal patrons rave about the delicious baked goods and fantastic coffee. Contra Cafe remains a hidden gem in Little Italy, perfect for a quick pit stop or casual hangout with a variety of menu options.

Charming neighborhood cafe located near my mother's house. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating options. The pastries are incredibly fresh - I tried the chocolate croissant and it was perfectly soft, flaky, and delicious. I also enjoyed their iced latte with oat milk. I highly recommend this place!
Today riding through the city to get downtown I took the bike route. What a lovely route. Found this place and stopped for a iced tea and scone. Definitely a great pit stop for us bicycle riders.
Quiet neighbourhood coffee spot with great espresso and pastries. Coming here for a slice of clementine almond cake and a coffee while relaxing in the sun is always time well spent. There’s not a ton of hangout spots on residential streets in this city so this place is special to me.
This is my favourite coffee shop in Toronto. It's a cute neighbourhood spot located on a quiet street that prioritizes pedestrians and cyclists. The interior space is very nicely designed and the outdoor patio along the street is quite serene. The drinks and baked goods are delicious.
Staff are extremely RIGID, explicitly said they would do something, did the exact opposite which is disappointing since I was accommodating to themSlow service, mediocre coffee and understaffed for the amount of customers. I do feel empathetic towards them since they do look overwhelmed, but that’s on the owner! Greed in the mix?Now the juicy part. The vibes are waspy and pretentious as heck, closeted conservatives who benefit from seeming progressive for self promotion. A person walked by who visibly appeared to be from a lower socioeconomic background with two big dogs, immediately everyone pulled their dogs away in disgust and dismay. While I let my dog socialize with theirs and got informed that they are friendly, I over heard a table with whyte peeps say “that made me so stressed for that person, how was he fine letting his dog get near that person” umm ok?Mind you these are probably the same people that have “I support neighbours in tents” signs on their front lawnsAlso get over the no dog policy in the cafe, people are in and out! Food safety bla bla, yet nasty privileged nepo baby’s can stroll in and out with no issues
