Was Elizabeth Skiles at Cardinal Rule a mag?
We hit the lineup at the right time and spent only a few minutes before being seated. In had the wallop burger and my wife had the classic vegan breakfast. The food was better than before which was pretty damn good. The only knock we have is that service once seated was slow. Due to the place being full that was to be expected however another server wouldn't hurt. Happy six yrs CR which coincided with our own 6th wed... View all feedback.
What Vicente DuBuque dislikes about Cardinal Rule:
I ordered takeout from this restaurant and tried the Beef Burger. It was just okay. However, I was surprised to find out that condiments like ketchup, mustard, or mayo were not automatically included with my order. View all feedback.

Great food
I adore this restaurant. However, my dining experience was interrupted when a couple with a loud child arrived.
With only a quick google search for Gluten Free / Vegetarian friendly places to try, we decided to check out The Cardinal Rule. THANK GOODNESS we did. The cook turned around as we entered with a friendly 'hello', and the waitress seated us with a welcoming smile. The tables had funky cut outs from tv shows to movies to music stars. Large comfortable bench seating and 80's/90's tunes made us feel right at home. The food! The food! The food! GF onion rings and dill pickle spears are crunchy, not oily and very flavourful. I don't know what the coating was, but it was light, crispy and delicious. A must try for either the rings or the spears. It was a cold, rainy day, so the 'starter' size 3 bean chili was in order (with cheese and chips thank you very much!). It was more than enough for a meal. Just enough. To drink you ask? Well.....great menu. My friends raved over their Hot toddie - wowzers! ...and the 'Boozy coffee' - look out! Me? Well, I had to have their Dill-icious Caesar (with a fried pickle spear on top).... ok, ok.... I had 2. Lip puckering dill briny goodness with a well rimmed glass. Dessert: A simple offering of a 'Sweet & Salty' - Chocolate cake in a small mason jar with chocolate and caramel swirl and fresh whipped cream. C'mon!!The menu has so many amazing items, and we were very happy with the number of 'veg friendly' and Gluten free items. We appreciate they ensure that anything GF is prepared / deep fried in separate areas of the kitchen / deep fryer. No crossing of any food item....... you can leave your EpiPen in the car :) We will be back....oh yes we will !
