My friend and I were greeted immediately on entering this bright location on Royal York Rd. We arrived around 10:45 a.m I ordered the three egg breakfast with toast and home fries for 5.99 I think this was the cheapest item on the menu. The home fries are freshly made and eggs come in any style. I had poached eggs which were done to order. Prices rise fairly quickly beyond this item..though I realise that restaurant prices are changing everywhere. I got a taste of the waffles from my friend's plate...yummy, thick waffles with some substance. These are definitely a store recipe. Very tasty and filling. I will definitely head back to the Breakfast Room to try some other items on the menu. The staff are attentive and friendly. Everything looks clean and tidy. I left completely satisfied and I didn't need to eat anything else until supper
Well, it's not! The variety, the portions, the quality of the food, the décor and if your lucky, you'll have Katlin serve you. Kenith in the kitchen is the food magician. Additionally, they call it the Breakfast Room. Well...it's got a lot more than breakfast to offer. Salads, hamburgers, and just about anything you would see on a full menu. But I went for the breakfast and I was amazed! Parking is on street (free) and could be busy. Mondays are a good day to go as a popular Italian Bakery just down the street is closed and is a normally, a major draw in the neighbourhood. Remember...go hungry!
With dine in suspended I decided to try brunch takeout, something that had never appealed to me before. Breakfast Room is right near my favorite bakery so in I went. They had a lot of lunch options and off menu specials. I tried their crabcakes...benny which was better than expected! They were very generous with the portions for the price!
The restaurant may not be particularly stunning, but it is very clean and brightly lit, located right in Mimico Village. I tried the Canadian omelette with bacon and mushrooms, which was tasty, along with the home fries and dark rye bread. I also ordered pasta and garlic toast, both of which were delicious and filling. I would definitely consider becoming a regular customer if I lived closer, as the portions were substantial enough for leftovers the next day.
