If I could give a zero star I would. Today I pre ordered takeout for pickup on my way home from work. I had ordered rice and beans specifically and griot. When I got home, not only they had not given me any rice (instead they gave me marinades and tasteless plantains) but they gave me griot that was totally inedible, just a lump of fatty pieces that I had to throw in the garbage. They can't even trim the fat from the meat and still charge you such a high price. That is called being incompetent and cheap. Being cheap will really get you far in life Boukan! They also did not have interac (they had a new machine installed and cannot figure out how to use it). I was obliged to log into my TD bank account to transfer money to them. NEVER AGAIN! Biggest waste of my money at 22$. Even though the Alabon Libon Hatian restaurant is a bit far from where I live, I will continue to go there instead. Their food is tasty and they give you exactly what you ask and pay for. I really hope that Boukan's business closes because they are not in a position to operate or serve customers what they want. I see that you serve alcohol and have a bar. That's most likely the only reason that you are still in business on the Danforth. There is no way that you could even afford paying rent otherwise.
Last night my bestie and I checked out Boukan, and I am so glad we did. The atmosphere was very relaxed and inviting. The staff was amazing. Answered all our questions about the menu. I ordered a Rum Punch, 10/10. It was strong, sweet and colourful. The food was the best part of our experience. The portion size was just perfect to share and try. The Creole shrimp was absolutely amazing!!! This place will be my go to spot from now on. Our server Miles was absolutely amazing, great customer service. One of the owners Ricardo (I believe that was his name) was very kind, approachable and explained more about the restaurant and the different theme nights that they have at Boukan. Highly recommend checking this place out. Go for the food, stay for the vibes.
The Boukanye Burger was entirely vegan—the bun was made from plantain. The 'patty' featured a unique blend of beans, mushrooms, and spices, making it surprisingly tasty. The Shrimp Creole Fritay was a delight, showcasing a mix of fried sweet and green plantains, fried dumplings, and spicy coleslaw surrounding shrimp bathed in a flavorful sauce. I did wish there were more shrimp and that it was a bit less rubbery, but if you're a fan of fried foods, this dish is definitely worth a try. The Jamaican Rum Cake caught me off guard—it turned out to be more of a cheesecake. However, the strong hint of rum made it an intriguing dessert. As for the Rum Punch, it leaned towards the sweeter side but was still quite enjoyable. Overall, Boukan is a fantastic place to gather with friends and immerse yourself in a lively night that can last until the early morning hours. If you're looking to join in on the fun, be sure to drop by!
Boukan brings the vibe and the fry. Their new location has the Haitian spirit of fun and dance, with its music, decor, and an endless amount of fried food and flowing alcohol. Stopped by for dinner and got: Boukanye Burger: Completey vegan (even the 'bun ' was plantain). The 'patty ' was an interesting mix of beans, mushrooms and spices pretty tasty. Shrimp Creole Fritay:Fried goodness. Sweet and green plantains, fried dumplings and spicy coleslaw surround sauce bathed shrimp. Would have likedmore shrimp (and it to be less rubbery). But if you like all that fry, definitely get this. Jamaican Rum Cake: Didnt realizethis would be a cheesecake. Strong enough taste of rum though to make it interesting. Rum Punch: A bit on the sweeter side butstill pretty good. Boukan is a great spot to meet up with friends and just enjoy a night that stretches into the wee hours ofthe morning. Stop by if you want to join the party!
